Fixing PS2 controllers

I'm having a problem with one of my controllers. It seems like its left analog stick is discalibrated(sp?). Because all the time, even when you're not touching it, whatever is on the screen moves as if you were pushing down

Is there any easy way to fix this?

Probably not. This can happen if something was pushing the joystick in a certain direction and wore out the springs I think. Thats why I get on peoples cases when they just toss my controllers onto the floor face down.

Time for a new controller probably.

usually just unplugging it and plugging it in works for me but obivously thats not the case here. you could try opening it and cleaning out any junk that may be underneath the analog stick. I know one of my xbox controllers had this problem (except it wouldn't register going down) but its worth a shot I'd say. oh and you put the r2/l2 buttons in AFTER you close the controller up.

Yeah, I imagined as much. What pisses me off is, that other than that, the controller is in perfect shape. The other one I have, has the part under the rubber(in the left analog stick) broken. Not completely, but the rubber moves all over the place now. But at least it works.

DAMN YOU, WINNING ELEVEN!!!

One of my PS2 controllers (when I owned it that is) broke in a weird way. I was able turn actually rotate the left joystick in circles holding the top part and twisting. Went clockwise and counter-clockwise. Something broke, but I have no idea what that was.

well if you can't fix the first one you posted about simply swap one of the analog sticks, they come right off. I know I've done this.
