[Warm Machine]

Anyone else see this? I was actually pleasently surprised by it. Giovanni Ribisi actually puts in a performance that is different from the others he does and creates a really great character.

John Moore's shots are great as is the tight editing and structure. He handles most scenes pretty originally even though the subject matter has been done many times before. Best of all the film is kept as serious as they can get away with. It never degenerates into a joke fest and the danger to the characters are well established and inflicted.

The only thing that hurt it was the there were a probably two too many crisis, almost every nationality is represented, they were only missing a guy in a wheelchair to get the disabled market into the theater.

I would just like to point out that it takes some gaul to remake this movie. I have no idea if they changed the 'plot twist' or not.. but I have a hard time imagining Dennis Quaide being half as good as Jimmy Stewart.

I dont get why you remake a movie like this.. you either fail miserably and piss everyone off or you succeed in making and equal or better remake of a classic, at the expense of anyone 10 years from now even knowing the original exists.. at least some movies (planet of the apes) had some fun with the fact that the movie was a remake (giving the apes lines from the first movie that humans used)..

To this day, the original is a great movie to watch. There was no need for a remake. What should have been done is to have the movie digitally remastered and re-released in theatres.

The remake sucked hardcore. Many plot inconsistencies. Terrible acting other than Ribisi and Quaid.
