Saw it this afternoon. How do I comment on the film without giving anything away? Let's just say that this comment from Rotten Tomatoes (via Minneapolis Star Tribune):
"The first half, which is vintage Hitchcock, is by far superior to the second half, which is pure Steven Seagal."
Couldn't possibly be any more accurate. Nearly two thirds of a interesting and thought provoking movie completely shitted up by a tremendously awful final third. The messages the movie gets across are horrendous as well, such as a mother is within her rights to do anything for the safety of her child, like put 400 other people in serious danger or accuse people of crimes in paranoid fits of rage. Also, mental problems aren't real, others are probably just lying to you. The movie is also noticably hostile towards men. Viewer beware. Of course Ebert liked it. That guy has been lost for a decade now.
