I did a couple assignments on a floppy disc. The disc was damaged, so I had it repaired. One file was OK, but the other one (which is much more important) still won't open.

It's a Word file

When I click on Properties and goes to Summary, it shows all the details like the number of characters and lines. So I know SOMETHING is there. The file is also 25 kb. But it won't open. It says:

The document name or path is not valid. Try these suggestions.
* Check the file permissions for the document or drive.
* Use the File Open Dialog box to locate the document.
(A:\question2.DOC)

So, as far as I can guess, the problem is that it has been damaged and corrupted. But is there any to way to get around it and open the file, even if much of it is gibberish?

Any help would be appreciated

SCREW YOU GUYS I FUCKING DID IT!!!!!!!!!

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

The Word program at school (where I first investigated) was not up to date enough to tell me choices that I have in solving the problem. Just now I decided to check again, at home, and it told me a couple new things. I could try and "repair" the file. That did not work. But I could also download an additional package for Word and it might be able to "recover" the text. And it did just that!! I was pleasantly surprised. Can't stop smiling now. :)

You mean people still use floppy disks? That is sooooo 90ish....
Practical, too.

I've never had a damaged floppy before. But my friend grabbed a random one from the front of the computer lab. Turned out that it was already broken.
