Followup on my xbox situation

Avoid Conker.

Some great Xbox games:
Ninja Gaiden Black
SW: KotOR
Phantom Dust
Top Spin
Psychonauts
Oddworld Stranger's Wrath

don't get pulse racer

Conker is fun but only if you accept that it has some dated level design and gameplay conceits going into it.

best platformer on the system is psychonauts.

Oddworld Stranger is a great offbeat FPS as well.

Far Cry Instincts.

btw, I'm SELLING my pc version of KOTOR and ps2 version of Psychonauts. If anyone wants em pm me.

Isn't Top Spin on ps2 now? Is that's a better version than the xbox Top Spin?

What's so bad about Conker?

And I forgot about Oddworld. I've never played one though.

Hmmm... I haven't played Top Spin on the PS2, but check the reviews. I think they mention the Xbox version as the superior one.

Conker just feels incredibly outdated in terms of the gameplay mechanics. It's a beautiful looking game, but the gameplay really hasn't kept up with the times.

Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge
Far Cry Instincts
JSRF: Jet Set Radio Future
Metal Slug 3
Ninja Gaiden
Oddworld Stranger's Wrath
Otogi 1&2
Outrun 2
Panzer Dragoon Orta
Rallisport Challenge 2
Unreal Championship 2:The Liandri Conflict

Would list Halo 1&2 but I found Far Cry Instincts to be better on and offline.

If you like to abuse substances and play multiplayer games with buddies, Deathrow is worth whatever pittiance it now commands. I cannot stress this enough. To hell with the haters.

Yea Crimson Skies is beautiful. Only problem I had with the game is that the sense of speed isn't where I would like it, but that goes for all games with planes in them.

There are so many Xbox games that are better than Conker.

I'm getting the xbox for 100 bucks, but the last thread was more towards the system as opposed to the games. I should have my xbox in a few days, and I've decided to soft mod it via mechassult.

I've added Otogi and DOAX to my list of xbox games to buy and it'll probably be my first game along with Mech Assault.

The gamestop has Panzer Dragoon Orta for about 10 bucks. Riddick for about 15, and Jade Empire for 20 bucks..but no Jet Set Radio Future (which I want the most) :( Can't wait for Xmas so I can buy more games with xmas money.

I've found that many gamestop's around here don't have many of the games I want. Sucks.

Anyways, this thread is SOLELY for xbox game suggestions. Is Conker good? The demo was pretty fun.

Hmmm, you should be able to find JSRF/Sega GT 2002 pretty easily for like $6, just search that big area with all the old Xbox used games on it like the 30 copies of Mace Griffin Bounty Hunter :P

Jade Empire is alright, I mean for $20 you can't go wrong, but the battle system is weak... you're better off with some of the RPGs on PS2.

Outrun 2 is just so simple and unpretentious... it's just a great game though over rather quickly, but it's chock full of replay value. Really nice looking game too. Totally worth the $20 I spent...

Oh yeah and of course... STREET FIGHTER:ANNIVERSARY COLLECTION. With Live play... this is a must get if you're into SF.

The entirety of Phantom Dust is a card game, and you're constantly looking at your "hand".

Trust me. Whatever ugliness you perceive from the game's HUD is worth the absolutely fantastic graphics, visionary gameplay, and great music.

then I can understand why you haven't been able to find JSRF yet.

While JSRF/SegaGT2k2 can be easily found on ebay and at EBs, it's hard to find the original JSRF with the foilish cover. I know because I only just bought mine within the last month off ebay. Someone had a sealed copy for sale and I nabbed it for about 8 bucks. It doesn't appear to be rare, but it isn't that common that someone posts a sealed copy for sale. Used ones are ubiquitous though.

And although Ninja Gaiden may be missing from store shelves, it shouldn't be hard at all to find Ninja Gaiden Black. I picked mine up from the Fry's sale for $19 a few weeks ago <3

Also recommended: Fatal Frame & Fatal Frame 2. Better versions with additional content (new boss for first game, additional difficulty levels, additional exclusive endings, costumes, etc).

i also reccomend Deathrow and PGR2.

i also finally picked up Halo 2 last month and i love it. im having just as much fun -if not more- than 1. SP and MP are both great. takes a little getting used to if you've played lots of the original though.

Metal Slug 3 ftw!

Conker also has horrible load times. N64 version ftw. Get Ninja Gaiden Black. You won't regret it. Just a sweet sweet game.

Get Enclave. Not only are the graphics among the best on the xbox, the controls are top notch aswell and the gameplay is just awesome. And the game is long, there are two campaigns, light and dark side... very good game, recommended to anyone.

I loved me some Enclave. If it ever gets BC'd on 360, I will be buying it yet again. Too bad it will never see a sequel as most dont know a great game even if it bites em in the @$$. >:(

Crimson Skies, Otogi, Otogi 2 and KOTOR are without a doubt my favorite Xbox games. JSRF and PDO are also great, but the former is tough to find and the latter wears thin after awhile. Jade Empire is also worth a go at the price it's at, despite the gameplay kinda sucking.

The Kingdom Under Fire games are also good fun, and my hidden gem would definitely be Yager. It's not that great, especially since it took forever to be released, but it packs some sweet dogfighting, and some decent visuals. Not many people tried it out, but I followed it for ages, and while the delays were hard to take, it eventually released at a budget price.

Think about getting phantom crash, should be cheap as all hell and I loved it, not for everyone but I found it addictive.

Lots of cool custom things you can do to make your ultimate fighting robot but many people hated the story based dialog that is ever present and un skipable (though I liked it).

Also other games already mentioned would be:

Otogi
Full spectrum warrior
Mercenaries
Destroy all Humans
oddworld
Mashed (fun with friends only)
Deathrow
Phantom Dust

I would recomend The Punisher and Star Wars: Republic Commando as well.

If you live near a Virgin Megastore, you might want to try checking there. Several weeks ago I managed to snag from my local store sealed copies of JSRF and Gunvalkyrie for $20 and $10 respectively. They had a few copies of both games left over in their bargain basket display at the time, so it might be worth scoping out.

BUY METAL ARMS!

Seriously, best 3rd person shooter on xbox, by MILES.

I guess you might have played it on other platforms but Xbox version is best.

1. Ninja Gaiden Black - This is the best action game of the generation, IMO.
2. Steel Battalion - It's a totally unique experience and has great online community, too. (High cost of ownership keeps out the bad people).
3. Otogi 1 & 2 - This game has some of the best art direction this generation.
4. Halo 1 & 2
5. GGXX#R
6. Panzer Dragoon Orta - It's a work of art. Period. This is arguably the best reason to own an Xbox (if you take title exclusivity into account with the rest of this list).
7. Phantom Dust - Now I know why people like Pokemon.
8. DOAU
9. Metal Arms - Crunk is one of my favorite new characters this generation (voiced by Dan Castellaneta/Homer).
10. Breakdown - There are many problems with the game, but it's a totally unique experience, otherwise. It has one of the best twists in videogames, ever. Also, the FP fighting game mechanic is awesome. (First Person Dragon Punching, For The MF'ing Win)
