Foods you can't stand.

I'm generally not a fussy eater and will try pretty much anything. However, there are foods that I can't stand eating anymore. Some, I just never was a fan of. Others, I will flat out refuse to eat.

There are two main foods I can think of that I refuse to eat:

One is cucumber. I just don't like the texture and taste. In fact, the taste of cucumber overpowers anything it's put on, effectively making the whole dish cucumber.

The second repulsive food to me is mustards. Any kind of mustard. I was never a fan of it and would rather lick a dirty toilet bowl than eat another smidge of mustard. Similar to cucumbers, mustard overtakes anything it comes in contact with, even if you put on a little bit of it.

What about you? What foods don't you like and why?

Onions for pretty much the same reason, the flavor takes overpowers anything it comes near. (Well that and I think they might be a migraine trigger for me as well. Once bit into a turkey sandwich that had onions hidden in it. Spit it out but ended up developing massive migraine within an hour.)

Ginger. Well, except ginger ale. lol. But the worst taste and feeling is eating some stir fry and you bite into a chuck on ginger.

As for some of you bringing up overpowering foods, I like bananas. But eat them by itself. If you put chunks of banana in a bowl of cereal or a smoothie, all you taste (and texture) is bananas with every bite.

Black Olives and Spam. It's a dead tie.
I haven't eaten much Spam, but daaamn..
Black olives?

I love 'em added to some of my favorite Tex Mex dishes. 😋

I don't eat them often, but when I do, they shine through.

edit - black olives on pizza are the bomb!

Vegetables, beans, and legumes all hurt my stomach stopped eating them I lost a ton of weight and all my digestive issues went away

Sauerkraut.

I'm sorry germanbros. I tried, couldn't, moved onto the nearest currywurst place and forgot all about that fucking thing.

Olives, cilantro, cottage cheese, and any kind of organ meat.

Olives taste like perfume to me, cilantro tastes like soap.

Cucumber overpowers the taste? The thing is 96% water, the other 4% is tasteless.
Onion can overpower if you are eating it raw.

The best flavoring/seasoning base in almost every dish/sauce is olive oil, onion with garlic and some black pepper. Even a monkey can cook tasteful plate with these 4.

Cilantro and celery would be my choices (and cilantro goes well on some fish and Mex dishes) . But even that is not something that i can't stand.

You are forgiven.

You are German and you don't like a a good mustard?

Black olives, if you get them on anything the flavor dominates, it's all you can taste.

Other than that, I'm not a big fan of really any kind of chips, and don't really like French fries either.

I also maintain that all seafood, with incredibly rare exceptions, is terrible.

I couldn't eat durian. I know some people love that stuff..

I'm okay with a lot of stuff, and I love all types of food in different region (even extremely smelly ones) - but I just couldn't eat durian.

FYI, mustard is a good binder for herbs and seasoning on meat and doesn't overpower but helps a solid, flavorful crust
Embed itself. Usually steaks and pork is where I'd use it and not all the time. I like to mix it up. 😎

In some rare sauces such as Cajun remoulade, I can perhaps tolerate the presence of mustard as an ingredient.
But even then, only in small portions.

You don't see me throwing stones at the people listing seafood in this thread.

So much hate for olives and they are awesome! I wonder if it's a matter of where you live, spanish olives can be top tier stuff.

I eat them on pizza sometimes. But that's because there is usually so much on it already. Supreme with olives would get pulled in as if I were The Great Attractor.

His name Doom. ☠️

Only pineapple.

It looks like a juicy and sweet fruit but I think it tastes like absolute shit.
Can only assume you've sadly eaten the over-ripened ones. Its like papayas, they can taste like absolutely nothin, then progressively sweeter, then taste like rotten sugar.

Fuck Durians! Fuck. That. Shit.

Someone gave me a durian candy as a practical joke. Spent the next 3 hours trying to get that smell off me with mouthwash, deodorant and even a fucking hot shower. Heard the actual fruit is x100 times worse.

Anything else is fair game.

I like everything except for tripe. I hate chewing on fat. I haven't tried haggis yet though, but I have a feeling it also would be on my list.
