With the new titles ready to drop I thought it might be a good idea if we try and get a GAF footy community going. A place free of shitposting about whichever game you choose to purchase this year.

For most of us stalwarts, it's always a choice between Fifa and PES and if you're like me, you eventually end up with both titles anyway.
As always the developers promise radical game defining improvements, which will no doubt turn out to be slight tweaks marketed as genre changing reforms. PES has gone heavy with the finesse dribbling this year partnered with Andres Iniesta. This is a context aware, skill based deft dribble mechanic. When standing up your opponent you can flick the right stick if you anticipate the direction you're opponent is going in. Tap it in quick succession and in the right direction and you can weave through the opposition like a gazelle. Some advanced dribbling skills are tied to the player skills and rating though. So while someone like Jordan Henderon might be able to sell a feint or two it's unlikely he'll have enough in the locked to link enough feints through a packed defence. On the other hand, players like Messi will. PES has always prided itself on the player identity aspect of its game. They will have several licensed teams but option files remain the go to for PS4 and PC players. Xbox ecosystem currently doesn't allow for option files.
This year FIfa arrives with Volta football, which is a stripped down version of Fifa Street. It remains to be seen how good this will be. A lot of the development and anhancements have been around Pro Clubs and your own Virtual Pro. A lot are on cosmetic and appearance but there are soem new positions available as well. Again, the promise of not being able to sprint the entire game is there. Any points spent on stamina and pace will lock out other meta stats and attributes to prevent the 'gold build' or template. They have also introduced synergy between traits. If you select a particular pair they will work together to heighten the impact on your pro. Timed finishing is going to be made harder and defending will be more risk/reward with improvements made in the AI support. There will be more reward for 'beating your man' when 1-on-1.
FUT v myClub
These are the grind/lootbox modes of both games. With FUT you can grind for players or spend time gaming the player market to earn currency which you can then buy specific players. Think ot if like an auction house. Aside from that you can open packs of players and hope to get the correct ones to build up your team chemistry. If you run out o fin game currency then you can buy FIFA points for real world currency.
myClub is based more on using scout cards to narrow the chance of acquiring a specific player. Chemistry is easier to build in myClub but you are restricted more in tactics. You have more scope to develop players in this mode as well into roles you want/need.
KICK OFF!!!
