For a pc fps player, is Riddick worth $50?

Most everyone's impressions are that Riddick is a very good game, maybe even an excellent one. I've heard people saying it's the best single player fps ever, and one of the best games you can buy on any console. The videos I've seen look very good indeed.

However, I've heard the same about other console fps. And, none ever lived up to the hype. I think that's because I'm used to online mulitplayer fps, which I find far more exciting.

My question is this, is Riddick the exception? For those who mostly enjoy pc fps and have played Riddick, is it that good? Or is just a good console fps? I have to tell you, I'm close to buying it. Any and all opinions are welcome.

I keep tellin' ya man, just rent it. By all accounts, you can blaze through it in a weekend, let alone the 5 days you can leak out of a rental.

I haven't played the game, but I'd probably rent it instead of buying it full price. It's $35 at Fry's right now if you have one around your area. Plus the game only lasts for like 10 hours, and that is considered short playtime to many people

Renting sounds good, but isn't a good option for me right now, the video store I belong to rarely updates their X-Box games. To register at a new place would be a hassle.

www.gamefly.com has a free trial for two games (up to 10 days), you just need a credit card :P

Actually it's more like 17 days cause they give you another week to send the games back. Although it's a bit risky to keep it that long since I think they need to receive the games in that time frame

Shit, that's cool. I can't use my cc now, but I'll save this iste for later on. Thanks!

I miss Ura-Nage and his avatar already.

Ura was a good man, but he was weak in his way. It had to come to this, the natural evolution of things.

I'm going to buy the game...sure it might not last long but just so I have something to show off my XBOX when mates come over. (Along with RSC2...) ;)

I'm still not a fan of playing FPS with a controller (Keyboard and Mouse 4 Life.) since It just does not feel like 2nd nature to me. I guess I just need to practice more.

Sadly, a gamepad can never match the intimacy and sheer flexibility of the good ol' keyboard and mouse. Playing Unreal Tournament 2004 followed by Unreal Championship on Xbox has confirmed this.

I enjoyed it a lot, but it is short (10 hours my first time through). Great game, but $50... eh, I'm just glad I didn't pay full price.

I didn't pay full price either, but it's fantastic. I'm going to have a tough time getting rid of this like I do many other games.

I rented it from GameFly and I'm going to buy it when it drops to $30. Awesome game. I'll want to play it again from time to time. Best graphics I've seen this gen for the most part. You have the usual problems for PC FPS players, using a controller when you would rather have a mouse.

Amazing game.

the games alot of fun, and certainly eye candy..

Che said he played it thru multiple times, if you do that, its definately worth the $50..

i will finish my first time thru, and then probably play it again once or twice while i own it, i feel its definately worth the $50..

i spent $40 on Unreal 2 on Xbox, and I enjoyed that single player game, adn this is twice as good...

Bestbuy or some other store had it for like $25 the week it came out. The PC version that is. For that price, no brainer.

I have the PC version, by the way, and as long as you leave V-SYNC on there is no tearing. Looks absolutely fantastic and runs the same.

With all the stealth and melee elements in the game, it's almost not a FPS. I think you can be a fan of FPS and not enjoy this game. I thought the game was great, but could have used more levels that required you to shoot people. :D

This game wil be $20 to $30 on gogamer.com within a month. Get it then. It's a great game, and well worth it. Glad I own the XBox version.

Buy the PC version because:

A) It's only $29.99 (or cheaper if you find it on sale)

B) Has additional content not found in Xbox version

The game rocks but keep in mind that the term "shooter" should be used loosely here.

If you have a nice PC, definitely get it.

The game is a bit sluggish on my 9800 Pro - very playable, and by all accounts very good looking, but it's not a solid 60fps. Fortunately, the stealth gameplay means that accurate aiming is not a requisite.
