As far as I know, the Merc nose is the shortest possible nose under the rules. Other teams have tried to emulate it like Red Bull, they spent a lot of time and money trying but no one else can meet the strict crash testing requirements with such a short nose and therefore need to add extra structure or penis. Merc clearly have something pretty innovative in terms of structure/weave going on.

Would be a nice revision to the Petronas graphics if that's the case. Be awesome if it was a flurorescent paint for those evening/night time races!
