Forza Horizon 3: Review Thread

the halo 5 narrative is one thing, but the multiplayer has grabbed me in that game more than 1-4. i never, ever thought id say that.

Oh absolutely agreed! I've played as much Halo 5 MP now, as an adult with responsibilities, as I played Halo 2, back when I was a teenager with nothing to do with my time. It's incredible.

It will end up being in the pantheon of great Xbox One games, but always with the caveat that it's single player narrative wasn't satisfying, which is an absolute shame.

Wow first racer in 5 years to have a 90 Meta? That's really impressive. God I can't wait for this. And I think Gears 4 is looking damn good as well. MS is hopefully getting their mojo back

And worth it. I mean. Its that good. It shows what a dedicated team who has tried a couple times and got it good but not right can do if they keep at it.

Looking good.

Can't wait to play a Forza game with a wheel too. I mean I could have downloaded Apex again, but figured I may as well just wait for Horizon 3. Hopefully the PC port is a good one.

Am I right that the three highest-rated racing games this generation (so far) are Forza Horizon 3, Mario Kart 8, and Forza 6?

Damn I wasn't really hyped for this but now I'm in. If I've never played Forza Horizon is this a good place to start?

Any word on if this will support TrackIR? I love cockpit view and a Horizon game on PC is making me want to buy one for the first time.

I don't think Gears 4 will break the 90s barrier but it will score better than Halo 5 imo.

I think it will score better than Halo 5 but there will be a "do we need more Gears? 1/5" review thrown in there that probably keeps the score below a 9/10.

After taking years reeling from the Xbox One launch its finally been enough time that we're seeing a refocused MS hungry to put out some great games. I can only hope that when Scorpio launches the fanbase upgrades hurriedly so that they can sweep OG XB1 under the carpet sooner rather than later, and MS can hunker down and finally be able to focus more on the games other than having to expend so much mental energy fixing the platform.

if you buy in singapore there is a second added value, you can play some hours early to the cet timezone :)
p.s. to make it work in singapore you first have to buy gift cards on the singapore ms store, then use those gift cards on xbox live and then buy the game from your account (all using a vpn service like Zenmate for example)

Done, it even worked without VPN. 47€ :)

Fantastic reviews, my most anticipated game this year easily. So happy for Playground Games, highest rated exclusive right?

Yeah the total no show of the PC version in general is a bit worrying. MS has had no problem showing off Gears 4 PC and talking about it and yet Horizon 3 has been basically radio silent. I really hope it's a good port

Nice to hear! Was a pleasure to help you saving some money! 22€ not bad!

Edit:
Just pre-ordered the Deluxe Edition for just 60 €. Indeed you don't need VPN anymore. Maybe the result that they rebuild the store to be unified now.

Lots of complaining about certain reviews in here I see. Where are all those gaf members who go absolutely apeshit whenever someone does that in other review threads?

They've been pretty active with keeping people filled in up to this point. They had some details over the last week or so on improvements to the FFB for wheels and the post-launch demo down the road. I'm guessing they're up to the wire on patching though.

They showed the PC version in every venue since the announcement of the game. Karak has also played both versions, i think? At least it seems so from the review.

Disappointing not to have been able to get a review copy of this in line with other publications, but hopefully some content later and a delayed review.

Why would one of the top racing game websites need a review copy of a racing game anyway right?

Thank god ibtimes got a copy though. Not sure what we would've done without that review.

Huh maybe it's just not getting attention then? I've been following Horizon 3 but other than confirmed wheel support and the specs requirements I haven't heard much of anything about the PC version while seeing Gears 4 PC all over the place

Samsung KS8000
LGb6
Pseries vizio.

Due to how the game works and all the various locations each had some issue and each had places they stood out.
LG looked the best for sure. But neither other TV was a slouch. KS8000's edge lighting got in the way whenever they had any kind of letterboxing which is very often and you can see pillaring here and there. But I don't think most folks will be bothered by that. Nighttime races were a tossup.

One thing about HDR. People are straight up going to have to get accustomed to fiddling for a great deal of time for each game and each tv.

I was passing the game from one xbox to the HDR HDMI input of one tv and then the S to the other HDMI input and switching between the same local area(took some friggen time let me tell you) and as I stated in my primer videos. If you never see the HDR your fine. IF you do...its like night and friggen day.HDMI

My apologies if you mention this in the video, but I can't watch it at the moment. What did you think of the performance of the B6 with an HDR signal in regard to input lag? Was it a hindrance. Curious what I'm in store for since I have the c6. Nice to hear it's lovely through :)

Self quote because I think my question may have gotten buried. Thread's moving fast! Thanks again :)

It depends where you follow, they've shown a lot of it - including 4K etc.

Glad it's reviewing so well.

Will hold out for the PC demo though as I'm in the middle of some other games and want to make sure it runs well on my rig and plays well with my wheel before plopping down the cash. It should I'd think, as Forza 6 Apex looks and plays great for me, but better safe than sorry, and easy to wait since I want to finish up Dishonored: DE, Destiny Rise of Iron story content and the new Telltale Batman Episode before jumping into another game.

There are a lot of previews. Some talking about the PC options, too, afaik.

Doesn't really matter since I assume PC people want a demo.

It does matter.
