Franchises That Just Disappeared?

Arsic

Loves his juicy stink trail scent
I picked up the .hack GU HD collection today and it made me realize… this franchise just died. 7 games, multiple anime's, and I think even an attempt for a PSO like game that was Japan only on ps2.

They reviewed ok, probably sold par the course for games back then.

Yet it just is vaporware now. The amount of shitty anime JRPGs is numerous so it doesn't seem like a large ask to have a smaller budget game of that vein to keep the franchise going, or hell even remake the first 4?

What other franchises had this many titles and seeming success then just disappeared?

Driver. Loved it on PS1 and even the ones on PS2. It was a big deal on PS1 but just died off.
The last Driver game made by Ubisoft (Driver San Francisco) was actually awesome. Who knows what would happen if the studio behind it didn't make The Crew as their next project, starting a brand new series (with gaas appeal).

One of the best action beat-em-up games of all time, and it deserves more love, and more sequels.

Great games. It was a sign of the times, but the loading times were shit.

They had solid 60 fps space battle games. They could had done anything with it..... include some RPG or sim elements, or even expand it and make it more like a Mass Effect adventure game.

The first time playing CW1, you play through some missions shooting enemy ships. But then Wow.... some big motherships explode on screen. I think one was an ally ship and a female captain is calling for help.... but then Blam!

Never played Aerobiz Supersonic. Didnt even know there was a sequel until the internet popped up. Also, it seems there was a 32-bit sequel called Air Management 96.

But Aerobiz was a great game on SNES. Sounds dumb to fiddle with airports, planes and ticket prices, but my bro and I played it a lot. That mode 7 airplane cut scene never got old.

If you want a good starting hub, always take London.

Breath of Fire. Solid releases on SNES and PSX. Also a PS2 game that apparently didn't review well and an eventual Mobile game that has since shut down.
