Francis Ford Coppola's Megalopolis - first trailer

This is one of those passion projects that either ends up as a complete fucking disaster, or a masterpiece. Sadly, I feel like this might be skewing towards the former, given how disjointed and unfocussed the trailer is. Very happy to be proved wrong though.
Bit like killers of the flower moon.

I will watch this film. But I’m worried it may be heading so far up its own ass.

Sorry but the director is a bit up his own ass at times.
But I want to be surprised maybe this is that film.

That review about the ambitions of a madman. Ok you know what I’m in fuck it. Whether it makes sense or not and despite godfather 3. in gonna watch this. He helped to change the face of Cinema.(other directors too) So without him/them who knows what movies would have been like?

Oh no doubt he made classics and will be remembered for them.

But his latest shit that just drags on screaming for Oscar's is just unbearable. I didn't even finish killers of the flower moon, it was a bad movie with great acting.

I'm glad to hear it's just over 2 hrs.
You telling me de Niro doing a foghorn leghorn impression and Leo frowning all movie while who ever the actress is as the wife is half asleep is good acting ?

I watched the whole thing and shit man it could have been cut down. I feel you because goodfellas and casino are two of the best films ever. But he went too far on this film.

again it could be I was expecting goodfellas style snappy dialogue acting and pacing meets crime drama.
But it’s not what we got.

Even the Irishman for all its length was in my opinion better than killers of the flower moon.

Graphics look pretty rough, but I hope the story and characters make up for it. Though I wish that, if this is a somewhat weird movie, that the same studio that made the FX for Twin Peaks The Return would work here again.

I honestly thought Francis was dead. The reviews for this are all.over the place; a couple weeks ago people were calling it a groundbreaking unbelievable epic and others called it a bloated mess.

Looks like it's meant to be seen in theatre's. I'm there

Reviewers are either trashing the movie or saying stuff like "it's incoherent, crazy with bad effects but I loved it", which they probably wouldnt if there was no Coppola name involved, tbh

So as expected, its a trainwreck

IGN gave it a 9 lol

It may be the most divise movie that got released in years

I heard this movie is absolutely garbage. As in it's really, really bad. That's crazy for Francis Ford Coppola movie.

Maybe it's good if a lot of these classic old timers just retire.

Well his earlier career he's known for The Godfather I/II and Apocalypse Now

After that though he hasn't done anything on those films level

Not to say he's a bad director. When it comes to visual language he's the best at that. But I noticed he hasn't made movie post The Godfather II that's been considered a classic.

You can argue Dracula is up there but I personally found it mid.

And yes he should retire

Coppola west the best in the business in the 70s and then he started making shit. Check out The Conversation. Hardly anyone nowadays knows the movie but its amazing. He had two best picture nominees that year.

The trailer looked awesome with some very cool shots. I personally loved the disjointed look of it and the cast is stellar. It's like a high budget avantgarde film, with a bat shit crazy director behind it like the good old days when movie auteurs went off the rails completely ala Werner Herzog. Coppola may well be past his prime, for me personally the last good movie he made was Dracula back in 92, but Megalopolis just looks too weird and unique to miss. Trainwreck or not, I'm fucking there in the front row seat. Godspeed Francis.
