Anyone else in New York, Forbidden Planet has the best setup. Get there when they open and they've got every FCBD book in a nice package, first come, first serve. 10 AM is when it starts.

It also happens to be a fantastic store.
Seems like a waste. Alot of people might not want ALL those books.

Oh it is. I still have a pile of garbage from last year, but I also have shit like Atomic Robo and Oni's thing and some Indie Stuff I wouldn't have been able to get otherwise. It's not like I had to pay for it.

;D

I posted this in another thread but my local small town newspaper's website had a short blurb about Free Comic Book Day. And the only comment in the comments section was a guy spouting off about how the government of Barrack Hussein was using Free Comic Book Day as a way to push his communist revolution on the youth of America, and that Glenn Beck had taught him to question things like this:lol I couldn't stop laughing.

Man I don't even know where a comic shop is around where I live. Even though I haven't kept up with comics in many years I wouldn't mind some free stuff.

Entirely depends what kind of shop it is. They should be though just because it's better to not over order new stuff that people won't buy or under order stuff that's high in demand. It's very important stuff for stores and publishers to know (especially if there is a particular series that you want around and is in danger of being cancelled).

Usually you have to buy a copy of "Previews" and get them your order form before they send away their orders. That's how its usually run, but sometimes they'll just have you fill out a store only form and they pull your stuff every week, but you also have to do that every month.

I helped a store in my local chain (New England Comics) set up for FCBD tonight and got a nice $20 credit there. I'll end up using it tomorrow. Free comics (2 official ones, 2 back issues from a bin -- nice stuff like X-Force and ASM too) and they're doing a 50% off back issues sale so it'll be catch-up day for me.

On, and Ron Marz will be there. So I'll be getting some Witchblade signed.

I'll be working at the Comic Swap in State College, PA for Free Comic Book Day tomorrow. PSU GAF, come down and bring your Pokewalkers!

ahh, thanks for the clarification. i gotta ask what they do at my store b/c I'm not gonna be able to get in there until Thursday during the summer and I don't want them to sell out of my stuff.

Yeah you'll want to do it soon. Those preview books are for things 3 months in advance so if you want to make sure you have the stuff for the summer do it now rather than later, but again that depends entirely on what system they use (previews vs store sheets).

You know, I might just set up a HeavyInk account. It seems like even with Priority shipping it wouldn't cost much more than buying at a store considering the discount + no tax + no gas. Hmm..

You don't get the experience of hanging out with your fellow nerds at the nerdy though! :D :lol

yeah for smaller orders that would probably be easier, but for people who pick up 10-15 singles a week that's another story :lol

UGH....I'm already dreading this day. Mother effers come in for free comic books and that's all they leave with. cheap asses.

It's because of clerks like you that people who are curious about comics never go into a shop.

:lol if you think my attitude on neogaf is indicative to the attitude I carry at work you are sorely mistaken. It's really a bad day mostly because of where my store is located. We get an absurd amount of homeless people coming in trying to steal shit while there are like 10+ people in the store that I'm trying to watch. That's why Free Comic Book day is a nightmare to deal with. Having to give 100% attention to the customers needs while there is a stinky homeless dude trying to steal shirts and stuff from the racks is annoying and has costed me and the manager revenue (that is sorely needed just because business is not good right now).

Nothing really piques my interest, but I could use an excuse to go hunt for a few more issues of Adam Warren's Dirty Pair. I'm trying to get a set of all of them without resorting to Ebay.

Oh wow, I just arrived at like 10:30, no lines, got a bag handed to me, went inside and picked up some comics. No lines in there either. :lol

Yeah, not surprised. It wasn't too crazy inside. Mostly people were just waiting to pick up the massive FCBD cache. Picked up the Pulphope art book while I was there, and X-Men Legacy. One more SC book until Complete X-Over Saturation.

Kinda bummed they had the Manga section closed. I wanted to pick up Yotsuba 9.

Going to go hit up the 3 participating shops here, if need be. Hopefully the first one isn't limited what I can have.

back. went to 2 shops, got a nice stack of books and some SCOTT PILGRIM BOOKMARKS!!!

also a green lantern ring, ew, and a war machine heroclix thing.

also some good coupons for later in the week. 100 bags/boards and a box for $14.99 and B1G1 50% off on Trades.
