Summary by /u/Mazen141 on the FromSoft subreddit:

FromSoftware's latest financial numbers were published in Japan's Official Gazette, as they've consistently done for the past few years.

FY2025 Financial Numbers:
  • Revenue: ¥23.5 B (~$158.6M)
  • Operating Profit: ¥10.1 B (~$68.2M)
  • Ordinary Profit: ¥10.3 B (~$69.5M)
  • Retained Earnings: ¥26.2 B (~$176.9M)
  • Total Assets: ¥76.8 B (~$518.5M)
Their fiscal year starts from April 1st and ends on March 31st, so FY2025 includes the release window of Shadow of the Erdtree, safe to say that it was what pushed this year's numbers up.

For context, here's how their net profit has looked over the past few years:
  • FY2024: ¥3.98 B (~$27.0M)
  • FY2023: ¥8.72 B (~$59.1M)
  • FY2022: ¥3.04 B (~$20.6M)
  • FY2021: ¥1.37 B (~$9.3M)
  • FY2020: ¥1.21 B (~$8.2M)
  • FY2019: ¥1.77 B (~$12.0M)
  • FY2018: ¥490 M (~$3.3M)
This was their second-best year ever, just behind FY2023, which included most of Elden Ring's launch year.

According to Alinea Analytics (probably not spot-on but in the ballpark), Elden Ring has generated over $2,000,000,000 in revenue.

Looking at FromSoft's FY Net Profits, it didn't go to them, unless they're operating expenses are over $1bn per year...so Bandai Namco got nearly all of that Elden Ring money?

Oh wow how can an AAA dev be profitable without flooding their games with $75 mp3 soundtrack mtx. No way this is possible. Game developement is very very expensive, just ask Ubisoft and the rest.

Bandai - $1 for you $10 for me... $1 for you... $10 for me..

I can remember importing the chinese version of demons souls the first week of it releasing and telling everyone how insanely good the game is and even people on this very forum were not interested at first. I felt like I was discovering gold on my own for a good month or so before it got serious attention.

How things have changed now, lol!

People confuse "Revenue" and "Profit" often forgetting operating costs for game production are very high. Well at least for games like Elden Ring.

$2bn in revenue. Elden Ring was maybe $100M to develop. A 20x return. With their highest FY profit being $60M. I didn't differentiate revenue and profit here because it's basically immaterial
