1. They ship items like CE in bubble mailers instead of a box therefore arriving dented. If you contact customer service ahead of your order requesting to ship the item in a box they still ship it in a bubble mailer and it still arrives dented. If you request a replacement for the damaged product they send you the new item in a bubble mailer and it is still dented and damaged.

2. When you preorder a video game and it clearly advertises the promotional preorder bonus code in the description and product pictures. However Amazon never fucking e-mails the preorder bonus code, such a case happened recently with my preorder for Dragon Ball The Breakers. I contacted support and got the run around and being told to wait 24-48 hours for the code or a reply which doesn’t come.

3. When you preorder and you have Amazon Prime it doesn’t ship on guaranteed launch day by default, it ships 2 day shipping so you don’t get your game at launch.

4. When you order an item, the people who package it are lazy and just simply tack on the sticker on the box of the item without putting it in a box. So they tacked a shipping sticker on top of the my Marcel Legends statue and also revealing the contents when I didn’t want that and the packaging becomes damaged. Wtf!

Honestly fuck Amazon. I quit Prime. Prime prices went high. Customer service went to shit. Their Quality Control is abysmal. Whenever a company gets too big everything suffers. Fuck this company.

Their packaging isn’t always top-notch in Italy and I’ve received some slightly dented books, but most of the time it’s the fault of the courier and not the actual packaging. Limited editions were always well packaged so far.
The preorder discount on games gets applied directly at checkout, no codes required.

The shipping is a bit slower these days and the price for Prime has gone up here too recently, but it’s still much less than the US price. I don’t use Amazon as much as a few years ago, but I still get mostly good service.

What’s even worse is that they hide (on purpose, btw the way) the option to contact them. Customers who really want customer service support has to go through so many aggravating menus to find the chat or phone option, which is so hidden. Even when you reach it, you are greeted by someone outsourced. They have little to no training and are limited to the options customers have.

The permutations for Alexa is severely limited in regards to Bonus and Promotions for preordering. There is a lack of permutations and requests. It is abysmal. You would think Amazon has the foresight for this, but they do not. I’m just waiting for a better competitor to step in. I want Amazon to be the Blockbuster and a Netflix to replace them. They don’t adapt and the corporate heads are all fucking idiots that don’t understand customer behaviour at all.

Fuck Amazon.

I'm letting my Prime expire because of the poor quality of goods from them. All too often lately I've ordered things like bath and kitchen cleaning supplies or whatever, and instead of the real deal I've gotten clearly cheap knock offs. Like my most recent order was an extendable brush for cleaning the tub. It didn't extend, it was fake. Designed to look like the real product, but wasn't. And the list goes on and on.

They're good about replacing fake stuff and flagging that reseller (so they say), but it's no fun going through multiple orders just to get what you want.

I usually only order books from Amazon and the state they arrive in sometimes is shocking lol.

Half the time I'm just sending stuff back the same day as the items are simply too scuffed and damaged. I still use Prime but yeah... Fuck Amazon.

What's a viable alternative to Amazon, though?
They've literally monopolized e-commerce.

Given the way local retailers have changed following the pandemic, I am back to shopping at local stores. The Target down the street delivers now, so there goes my household items like toothpaste, dish soap, deodorant, you know, Target stuff. I can order electronics at the local Best Buy, they price match Amazon now, and will bring your items out to you while you wait in your car. Or if it's a large purchase, like a TV, they deliver it for a fair fee. For clothing and shoes I already switched to using the actual merchants last year to avoid counterfitters.

I'll only rely on Amazon for niche items that I can't find elsewhere, or could only get from even shadier online merchants.

Yeah the amount of times they’ve shipped me a box or book in a bubble mailer makes me not even consider them for some purchases anymore. There’s nothing worse than opening something you ordered and it’s crushed to hell.

My biggest issue is their product QC… its all such garbage and chinese knock offs.

I feel like all it is is ali baba wrapped in a western name

Thankfully their return service is simple and quality, i just find myself returning SO much these days

I stopped ordering manga from them when they switched to using bubble mailers. First one I ordered looked like it got run over by a truck, and they’d support was like “what’s the issue?”

I still like Amazon.

Preordered tales of arise, never got the preorder code

Emailed them and requested it and they offered me a full refund and told me to keep the game 💪

Tales of arise was excellent too :)

If you're a prime member they seriously can't do enough for you and jump through hoops to try make you happy I find.

I recently bought a record - shows up damaged, I order a replacement - damaged even worse than the first, try to order yet another one - it wont let me.
Amazon rep on the call says I have to return them and there is "no option to replace this item" to which I reply, but I see them in stock and could purchase another one right now...
I now have to return two records and they tell me, I have to return one at a UPS store and the other at a Khols store.
Why can't I just return them BOTH (the same exact items) to one store? "Sorry there is no option for that"
So at this point I have to drive all over town to two different stores, to return damaged items you sent me - twice? "Yes"
Yeah I'm not doing that, talk to your manager or whomever can adjust these returns as I'm only going to one place. "OK"
25 minutes later - "OK we have adjusted them, please return to UPS store Thank You"

I ended up keeping the lesser of the two damaged records to avoid this endless loop of bullshit and won't be buying anything be it game or music from them again.

Yeah I can't agree.

I order almost everything from Amazon, from shampoo to flat screen TVs. I've been using the site since 2008. I haven't had to return a single order, and only needed to contact customer service once. I've tried supporting local and brick and mortar businesses, but the experience fucking sucks and I pay at least 20% more to do so. I've saved hundreds of dollars, and countless hours of my life thanks to Amazon.

If I'm ordering a collectible or something where condition is a factor, I order from specialist vendors. For 90% of my needs, the site is a godsend.

I have not purchased physical goods in over a year. Digital goods nearly a year. It's hard to avoid them but they have gone to shit.

I miss the days when Prime meant 2-day from UPS, it was like clockwork. Now with Amazon's delivery service, it's a total crapshoot if they make 2 days or not. Sometimes it is faster, but frequently they miss the 2 day target.

Even worse, their delivery drivers make UPS and FedEx drivers look like Rhode Scholars. At least once a week we have an Amazon delivery driver show up at our office looking to deliver something with a completely different street address. In the drivers' defense, it's a different guy every time, so apparently they don't get to learn a delivery route like a UPS/FedEx driver would.

What do you want to order? I haven't ordered much of anything from Amazon for over 2 years. Walmart, target, best buy all offer free shipping on most things. Or order clothes from the actual sites you want to shop at and they most of the time offer free shipping as well.

That's just business though, once they became the defacto norm they don't have to try anymore and thus find ways to skimp on costs elsewhere so they can generate more profit.

Not only that, but Amazon (and other very large retailers) absolutely destroy local small business. If for no other reason than that, you're doing the world of real people a service by avoiding them and shopping locally at smaller businesses as much as possible - which, granted, gets more and more difficult as time marches on and we're increasingly owned by our corporate overlords.

Side note - I've never paid for prime and I never will.

Ever since I stopped renewing my Prime, I've had little reason to buy anything from Amazon. Whenever I see a Prime-only discount for even one item, I empty my cart and buy each item on ebay instead.
I can’t search for one legit product on Amazon now without getting 20 chinese knockoffs. I was going to buy a pull up bar set, now I just use a tree
Also this bullshit. Can't get a decent single-breasted lapel coat (because non-functional buttons are infantile) fucking god dammit.

On the plus side, they don't give a shit if you want to send something back. They take it back.

Chat has never failed to solve my problems, also.

There are numerous problems with Amazon, my biggest being the overwhelming amount of Chinese garbage they sell. It's almost as bad as wish or Alibaba.

For real.
Returned a laptop to Amazon and didn't get refunded for 41 days.

I actually prefer to go to brick and mortar stores anyway... especially after that.

I'm gonna say this for all the people who work as either customer service or packaging.

These people are barely abl to make a living, they get paid minimum wages in stressful working environment and they are expected to be always nice!
And here you are complaining about customer service being shit when in fact 95% they try to do their job correctly because quality control is always on their head.
I worked for sometime in customer service and what i hated to deal with is mostly entitled people.

Yeah, they have been shitting the bed for the past few years even before covid. I use Wal-Mart+... eww, Wal-Mart, I know. But they do 2-day delivery without needing any subscription, and they have some decent perks https://www.walmart.com/plus (fair warning on the grocery delivery - I think they use a third party and you feel guilty if you choose not to tip them, and if you do tip them then you ask why you aren't just getting it yourself lol).

What killed it for me was when I purchase an item and they say 2 day delivery, the next day they say it won't make it on time and now you are stuck in the limbo where you can cancel the order but you are already committed to it. Has been happening a lot to me lately. After my prime membership expired, I don't shop there anymore.

Well, first you provide a good service that costs money to maintain, but earns you costumers. It also makes your competition close doors, win-win.

Then you streamline everything, cut corners and expect the costumers to stick around and pay more for the privilege.

It's a tried and proven strategy.

As for my experience, Amazon.co.uk was awesome before brexit fucked it up. Amazon.es sucks balls. One month ago I bought two lamps that broke within hours. I returned them and reordered the item. What I got as new, were the lamps I sent back, untested, but repackaged as working.

They can't sell returned shit as new and I didn't even send the original boxes back. Those were amazon warehouse deals even if they worked. And they don't. I was pissed,

I have more stories that highlight their incompetence. Amazon.de used to be quite alright like their Briton equivalents.

They are awful to their employees.

Amazon worker deaths in tornados raise questions about tornado training and cellphone policy

They keep shifting stuff around on their website and cancelling or changing Prime was getting difficult. Fake reviews, review bombing, shady vendors, harassed to give good reviews. Too many things to mention quite frankly. I have replaced Amazon with small trusted vendors on Ebay, buying directly from vendor websites, or buying local.

Not for nothing but go cram that Marvel Legends Statue up your ass. The workers your calling lazy have absolutely no say in how items are packaged. They're treated like fuckin dogs just so spoilt, entitled little assholes can get their fuckin toys.
