Single 2 lap race demo on this months disc. You have th choice of 2 cars for a race over 2 laps on a single map. You have objective such as a finishing spot and a destruction level. Cars are euiped with rockets and a machine gun. First up because everone is going to ask, graphically its nice not a massive leap but very detailed and full and I mean full of stuff to destroy and this appears to be the name of the game and in this area no game before has seen destruction on this scale. Blow your oponents up and at the same time blow stuff around you up to obtain destruction points up. At one stage I bombed a shop front and a massive chunck of concrete fell from the wall landed on the roof my car and happily stayed there for the rest of the lap. This is old style gaming really its frantic very fast and Fun (although its probably going to be enjoyable in short bursts). Nigh on everything blows up but a few problems are apparent such as when you come to a dead stop after hitting a small concrete plant pot, but objects such as walls, lamposts, trucks, cars etc are not a problem. This is going to be an absolute blast on LIVE.

Hmm, hope this is on the next US OXM disc.

Better yet, it should be available for download on the Live Marketplace!

how many points would you pay for a demo?

Personally? 50 points

All demos should be free.

Most certainly for games already out, but if it means more demos i'd pay a meger 50 points for games not out yet to get them off their asses. But that is just me

OXM 53 (USA) arrived today.

It has demos for both the 360 (King Kong, Kameo, Full Auto) and Xbox (King Kong, FSW: Ten Hammers).

It isn't double-sided as I expected.

If I boot it up in 1080i, it comes up in 'weirdscreen', so I had to switch it to 480p.

Quick impression of 'Full Auto'.

Burnout + uglier graphics + framerate problems + destructible environments + guns + Tivo 'rewind'. Ick.

from my very brief time with it at e3, it was a lot of fun. kinda burnout, but with actually good arcade style driving controls/mechanics (yeah, thats a diss to burnout)

I agreed, but then I played it again a few times and I kinda got into it. Dumb and mindless fun.

Uglier graphics?

I know a lot of people like to claim that the launch 360 games have 'Xbox 1 graphics', and I usually disagree.

In this case, yes, I find the Full Auto graphics uglier than Xbox/PS2 Burnout. The game certainly has more polys but it is very unattractive to me.

You know what had me thinking?

The XBL Arcade games. Take SmashTv for example. You can download the FULL version for free. You can either pay to have unlimited continues, or you can pay per play. The trial system now is horrible. You should not have to download a 'trial' version of what is essentially a rom.

what

I would gladly pay upwards of $3-5 for a demo of a game that is still 6 months or so out, less for demos of games that are closer to release of course; I will be extremely excited if MS or any of the third parties offer something like that.

Modus,
I posted the "synopsis" whilst in work. It was a rush effort without thought or proof but hey your quite correct errors galore. But to be honest I couldn’t give a shite.

People are absolutely willing to pay for demos, otherwise OPM and OXM wouldn't be able to charge $10/issue.

Exactly. If I'm willing to go out and spend $10 on a shitty magazine I'll read for 5 secs and toss just to get a demo of some upcoming major game...then I don't have much of a problem paying $3-4 to download the same type of demo.

Ugh. Shut up, guys! You fucking know Peter Moore is reading this and saying to himself "Yes, yes I do believe we can exploit these people! Excellent!", when the precedent as is benefits the consumer. Jesus, I can't understand the rationale behind wanting to pay for something of which we are getting for free. Free downloadable demos are a great thing, let's not fuck it up.

Well, demos for games that are 'out' in retail should always be free. But say if you could get a 1 level demo of Gears of War tomorrow for $4, that would be a fair price IMO.

You have the full game at all time, achievments and all. You decide to pay to unlock unlimited plays, or pay 1MD (or less) to 'Insert Credit to continue'.

Are you saying this is how it should be? Jesus Christ, it's a fucking Grammar Apocalypse in here! I need a Babelfish Plug-In STAT.
