Full match of Halo 5 mp

So many 'this isn't Halo' comments, again. /sigh.

It's looking like the best Halo MP yet for me. I like the fast pace and the balance looks good. Spartan chatter is a nice touch :)

I want to say something negative but I'm struggling...

Edit..

I'll say it again, they need to bring back the social and ranked split. Social has all the handy new additions, and ranked has the toned down gameplay. No one audience is held back this way.

I like this post. Good call.

Listen up, bros! Rocket launcher spawning in 30 seconds and don't forget about space beer pong tomorrow!

Ah, it's nowhere near that bad. They're having a good time trying to beat their buddies. Sometimes they get a little exuberant, and do/say something somewhat juvenile.

Sound... familiar?

The chatter and weapon call outs need to go. Game devs do not need to hold our hands.
I think weapon call outs are a nice balance between letting new players understand map control dynamics and actually having map control dynamics. Having fixed, predictable weapon spawns is a major plus point to me, even if they hammer you over the head with them.

Looks way better. Last night I'm playing various Halo mp games and getting pissed because they are too damn slow, there should be a %#*)(% sprint button in EVERY fps, I guess I didn't remember there NOT being one it's been a while since I played Halo :) This looks very cool, looks inredibly like CoD AW which ownz, so I'm excited and welcome these changes!

There's a lot of difference between map control and camping man. Camping generally boils down to some sad fuck sat in a corner pointing a gun at a door, while map control is actually moving about and securing areas to deny weapon control.

Completely agree. Map control is what makes an FPS fun in my mind (and as an element that is less prominent in CoD AW because of jetpacks, it is one of the big reasons why I'm not enjoying that game as much as I could be). Camping is an act of desperation, while controlling the map is a strategic measure to keep your team in an advantageous position, such as at a good vantage point, at a point that's easier to defend and attack from, or a position where some powerup spawns.

With that said, I've never been a huge Halo fan. I didn't like the lack of ADS, the number of bullets it takes to drop someone, or weapon spawns. Basically, I don't like Halo because of the things that make it Halo. The only reason why I'm even paying attention is because a friend of mine is trying to convince me to get MCC (and Halo 5 later on, I'm sure) when I get my XB1.

As a non-fan, a lot of these changes excite me. I like how BF does ADS, where hipfire is perfectly viable but ADS is better for distance kills. I'm hoping these changes make Halo more to my liking, but honestly I'm not sure how smart it is to alienate much of your loyal audience. 343 better be on to something good with this, or they run the risk of damaging the brand.

Sold on the gameplay, but that Spartan chatter has got to go.

I like the idea of it, but Spartans shouldn't sound like that.

This is what irked me about Halo 4's Spartan Ops. The Spartans sound all dude-bro instead of the cold/calculating military hardware they are.

I can't see the Master Chief talking in the manner they do from the video.

It's the one thing I don't like what 343i has done with the brand... Cheapened the mythological nature of the Spartan.

They aren't like the Chief, though. The IIs and IIIs were recruited as children, the IVs were marines first. Hell, I'd argue that they shouldn't be like the Chief, since that would cheapen his experiences.

That actually looks pretty awesome to me. Would buy if I had XO.

I almost get more of a UT99 vibe from that than Halo.

These Spartans are nothing like the Chief though. The Chief was abducted as a young child, subjected to experimental body modifications and forced to embark on grueling training regimes rendering him as a the stoic badass we all love.

The Spartan IVs are normal soldiers.

I think that looks fun as shit. Much better than COD or titan fall. Both of those games let you die too fast. Once you are being shot you are just dead nothing you can do about it.

Id like to see some play lists or modes where the chatter is gone but it is kinda cool maybe as new people get used to the game.

I mean... It looks good. It looks fun. But will it be a good or fun Halo game.

After the backlash from Reach and Halo 4, you'd think they would take a hint and understand that fans want Halo to be a return to form. Go back and focus on the four pillars of the franchise: Running, jumping, shooting and grenades. Capture that 30 seconds of fun. Don't mask the game's unique flavor with unnecessary components like perks and loadouts. I don't care how simple or balanced Spartan abilities are or that all players have them. It's not Halo.

It's like 343 wants to put us in a sandbox with tons of toys, tools and Tonka trucks. Or worse, put us in the sandbox and then giving us a damn iPad, thus making the sand irrelevant. I might sound silly but my point is all the extra stuff and add ons are just fluff that change a game that doesn't need to be changed.

They just don't get it. No one asked for this. People just want Halo. Not Halo + X, Y and Z.

You forgot melee.

I think this looks pretty damn good. Can't really say for certain though until I play the beta for myself.

The plot of Halo 4 confirmed that the UNSC is trying to copy the success of the Master Chief ... Based on the Spartan IVs attitudes from Spartan Ops and this video, I'd suggest they failed. :P

Spartan Sarah Palmer harping on about "eggheads" at length is haunting me... In a bad way.

I too would appreciate the Spartans sounding more cold and badass than dude-bro.

Yeah, they're trying to replicate his success, not the individual. Hell, there's a faction in the UNSC that wants to sweep him and the rest of the IIs under the rug; child soldiers are not a popular concept. They want to keep the Spartan's mythic status without the nasty methods they used the first two times around.

And unless I missed something, I don't think she said "eggheads" more than a couple of times total. Hardly harping at length :P

Shouldn't be like the chief, but the fantasy they are delivering now is not good. Immediately off putting

Think I heard him say that zooming with SMG improves the hit accuracy/spread??

The thing is already so beastly... TTK looks lower than other Halos, but that may be just the SMG I'm seeing, and it may be because they are trying to encourage sprint/dash perhaps.

Definitely massively not into the way power weapons are announced. Do they all drop in at once now? Why? It forces everyone to camp the spawns. It shouldn't be like that.

Jesus.

This isn't Halo. People are dying so fast, along with ADS and just how fast everyone is moving.

...Did we watch the same match? Dude was killing people with hip-fire just fine?

Looks like Halo to me. Just done slightly faster.

What, no shitty causalized social. The only difference between social and ranked should be the ranking system! That is, social lists should be just like ranked in terms of gameplay, toned down or not.
Same game everywhere.
This was especially terrible change in Reach with the title update, every list played differently.

Yup. Don't design two different games

The only thing I can see changed in ranked is elimination of Spartan chatter. Force communication in ranked. Doesn't change strategy and it's the same design.

Did you play Spartan Ops? It seemed to me she said it a lot there.

Yeah, I just went through the cutscenes a month or two ago. 2-3 times, tops. The only one that really sticks out was the one towards the very beginning.

And honestly, so what? She's a soldier who doesn't place much value in academia. Not a terribly uncommon attitude.

I think this looks excellent. Don't care for the chatter. I do like the power weapon call outs so when you do get stuck with no mic casuals they will know when to go

People thinking that a series needs to "evolve" when it still hasn't topped it's first game is ridiculous.

Evolve for better sales, maybe.

You don't lose shields when you thrust, when you sprint your shields don't recharge.

Though I think the TTK is a lot closer to the average Halo length than a lot of posters realize, I'm curious if this is one of the things that make it look like the TTK is a lot shorter. If the Red team is sprinting around all the time without regard to their shields (which I would not be surprised of given the skill they're displaying), they probably have them up at full strength a lot less than "normal", making them easier to kill. I'd have to watch again to see if that's happening.

sorry, this isn't the halo i was looking for, luckily for me there's the Masterchief collection.

i am completely uninterested in this title. everyone else enjoy!

Oof... I actually thought the previously released footage looked pretty good. (minus the sprinting mechanic) Seeing a full match puts this in a different light. It looks like they've narrowed the gap between Halo and COD multiplayer considerably. Some may see that as a positive, but I'm personally turned off by the changes.

And I probably missed a good post on the subject, but that spartan chatter is indefensible in my opinion.

I don't understand why 343i is trying to make Halo appear more and more like other FPS franchises. I mean, if they wanted to speed up the gameplay then just speed up the default running speed. I don't mind ADS as much, but it should have been for scoped weapons only.

Halo is dead. Long live Halo

I think this looks pretty fun. It's not the Halo I remember but I'm beginning to get over it, I just want to try this and see if it's any good for myself.

Wait, I don't get this. It's not like Spartan-IVs cheapen the legendary nature of previous generations of spartans. Why do these spartans need to sound like Master Chief when they're their own big military branch of adult volunteers now?

edit: I never played Spartan Ops besides one or two missions and so maybe I'm missing something

This looks good, but it has one problem. 343i has only made a couple of good MP maps in the past. Most of Halo 4 MP is forgettable and this "Empire" map just looks average. Where are the great map designs of Lockout, Zanzibar?

As a classic Halo fan I was put off by the initial impressions but after watching the video I think this is a good direction to move towards. There definitely need to be some tweaks but a faster paced Halo isn't necessarily bad, they just need to make sure they retain Halo's gun battles, which I think we will see they did when you have people with comparable skill sets playing against each other.

The Spartans have a lost a lot of their mystery, but it didn't start with 4, it actually started with Reach and the campaign.

4 decided to build on that and ruin their mystery even further.

The convergence that FPS genre is currently on is sad to me. Does the gameplay look good? Yea Does it excite me? No I really liked how different and unique Halo gameplay is and its a bummer that 343i is deciding to move away from it. If I want to boost or ground pound, I will just play Destiny. Nothing in the video really sold me on the game or what it is doing different from FPS that I already own.

The video just bummed me out.
