Full match of Halo 5 mp

I have to say I'm still not feeling the spartan chatter. At all. I found it distracting actually. I think if it's going to remain in the final product it needs to at least be able to be toggled.

I said this before too, but I really hope they put a variety of voices in if they plan on keeping it. All the spartans sounded the exact same, although I understand the beta isn't out yet.

I hated how the Spartans were portrayed in Halo 4, and they continue to rub me the wrong way here.

Why do they seem so, for lack of a better term... dudebro? I don't understand. They are supposed to be these noble stoic larger than life warriors right? So why do they act like teenagers in armor high on Mountain Dew? It's like 343 actively is trying to make them into a parody of the competitive gamer.

This looks like the appropriate progression in Halo's gameplay evolution. I LOVE classic CE mp games, but playing MCC really solidified for me, that I don't want to play that way 14 years later...

Lmao, nice description. I agree though, they need to take the callouts out. The chatter just seems...wrong.

Started in Reach.

Seriously, how anyone can level this at only 4 is baffling to me.

Shit started in Reach and was built upon in 4...

What you're not getting is that the majority of people want the newer gameplay. The guys who want the hardcore, slow-paced Halo are a minority. That's just the reality of the situation.

Is it? Is it? I thought this years ago. I thought this when Reach came. I thought this when Halo 4 came.
How wrong have i been!
You can see it from the hate these games get. You can see it from how vocal these hardcore fans are. You can see it from how fast the MP population of both games dropped (Reach held its share far longer than 4 but still...)
I still play Halo 4 occasionally, but unlike its predecessors, i can't stand it for long. Sprint is the chief issue for me in Halo 4 (that, and the fact people don't vote normal slayer but want Infinity settings, usually because of the map).

Changing Halo to be like a modern shooter is utterly stupid. It is like trying to make COD a Halo. Or turning Battlefield into... eh, well, it was already turned to too COD-like in BF3. Keep Halo's core identity Halo. Or if you want some hybrid between COD and Halo, make a new IP.

And besides, how is not adding merely some features evolving the game? It doesn't need as radical overhaul as Halo 5 is seemingly getting. (Besides, i already expressed liking most changes. Just have issues with ADS and Sprint, which exist purely to pander to COD-crowd, some UI and audio stuff, pacing i figure will be tweaked in the beta so not worried about that really.)

Halo 3 was the first game, that I know of, to start the whole Mountain Dew cross promotion craze. People forget Halo 3 was the dudebro game back then and it sold millions because of it.

Now things have changed. Games have come along that are more fast paced and appealing to the dudebros. Halo is selling less and peaked at Halo 3. They are doing everything they can to appeal to the dudebros again.

some armchair feedback (i designed two official natural selection maps)

negatives, imo

- spartan chatter
- blinding light flares and bounces (over brights)
- screen-centered medals
- weak shield / health depletion sounds

~

? is the ground pound targeting conveyed to other players?

Biggest negative imo, in addition to that they really need to get rid of the non essential medals popping up in-game. I'm fine with them existing and being a thing you can view post game but having a medal popping up for every action you take in game turns medals into "things that just happen" instead of accomplishments during combat.

Power weapon respawn notification is dumb, Casualizing halo for noobs.

Needs a less annoying as hell low shield noise, that incessant beeping was awful. It's like i'm playing a Tiger LCD game

haha I couldn't put my finger on what the damn sound reminded me of!
Had like 20 of those things when i was little.

We gotta face facts and realize that in order to compete, they have to modernize the dated Halo2/3 model to keep up with dude-bro shooters. As much as I love the old formula, Im pretty optimistic about playing this.

If you can turn off the spartan chatter and the base movement increases, I'll be okay with this I guess. I like the spartan abilities.

BR is single shot now?

Judge away

- Too damn fast.
-Shield regenerates real fast.
- Spartan chatter might be useful if you play alone and no one is using the mic.
- I don't like how the announcer saying when power weapons gonna drop. Everyone will be camping that spot trying to get it.
-ADS+Sprint

I don't know how i feel about this ...

Looks amazing.

No, I think they're either using a placeholder sound or they've sped the burst way the hell up. Not sure which, though.

IMO, this is the next logical evolution of Halo MP. If you go back and play old Halo multiplayer, it feels a little slow without any of these new mobility features.

I think this looks great while still staying pretty true to form. If you just want all the same old Halo MP, you have MCC.

All I'm saying is that if the Spartan IVs are going to continue to act like the marines from Aliens, and be all obnoxious cocky Hoorah like, I expect a cathartic scene were they get what's coming for them. Preferably getting slaughtered to the last man by a flood infestation.

Looks absolutely fantastic, but I'm going to wait for the beta before showering it with blind praise. Lots of stuff could go wrong here, but from the looks of things, they've all been kept in check to preserve Halo's identity.

Currently, my only two issues are simply things I'd like a toggle for, namely spartan chatter and Smart Scope. It'd be nice to have a way to turn those off for people that don't especially need/want to use them. Other than that... everything's looking really nice. Looking forward to December.

if the MP works :P

If you changed the aesthetic and made those guns like m4a1s, desert eagles, mp5s... and make the dudes have modern warefare stuff on. Would you think this is halo?
Serious question.

Yes, if you completely rewrite a game's visual identity it will cease to look like that game.

-_-

i thought it looked really fun

really interesting that they were able to make the scope animations resemble modern shooter's quick scope methods, but still retain the same old accuracy from the hip.

been saying since reach that thruster should be a base trait for all players

Serious question.

I wouldn't think it's CoD as it'd still be lacking the core things that make CoD, CoD.

I wouldn't think it's Halo either though, probably some kind of hybrid that's very heavily inspired by Halo, so much so that it's verging on a C&D being sent...

How is this a serious question?

...

what?

Its a question pointing to how the game is functionally dissimilar to Halo. It looks like it visually, but in movement, gun play, etc... it is more similar to a modern wafare game.

But how inspired by Halo? Because you have rechargable HP? Because the AR has a 32 round mag?

Well they kinda fucked up MCC.
We will compare Halo 5 vs MCC after a month or 2 or 3. Then we will know the answer, but I think it won't be what you expect it be. I think Halo 5s population will eclipse that of MCC, imo, at the beginning and several months following.

I would be wondering why COD got rid of all the stuff its known for to all of a sudden for emphasis on map control and long firefights.

I know... why the fuck didn't they do this?

Because default thrusters are awesome? No, seriously. Sprint, whatever. Not the biggest fan. But thruster packs were one of the few genuinely good things to come out of Halo 4 mp (Haven being another). Slap a shield drain on sprint, up the base movement speed, and I'm totally satisfied.

The ONLY thing similar to modern warfare is movement....that's it...

Yup, exactly the same.

Except with completely different gunplay, no loadouts, no perks, no instant TTK, no killstreaks, much higher skill gap, weapons on map etc. etc.

Well, it sure doesn't look like Halo. A friend of mine commented right away "This doesn't look like Halo" when i showed the B-roll video to him.
Claiming it is COD isn't right for sure. It definitively is lacking most COD-like features.
But at the same time, it certainly doesn't look like Halo. IMO. I think removing Sprint and ADS would make it look like Halo more, they do affect how it feels heavily.

I know full well what garbage is. Reach and 4 were garbage.

Those games you listed were also garbage, but they weren't entries in a series that was renowned for its superbly tuned gameplay mechanics.

Obviously you don't know what garbage is. You still are calling competent games garbage.

I definitely wouldn't say it's COD, but it's not Halo either. It's a hybrid, that introduces new COD elements while downplaying some of the previously defining elements of the series.

It's closer to modern shooters, for better and for worse. If you don't like those modern shooters, then halo is dead for you.

What are you on? TTK is different. Gunplay is totally different. Gunplay rewards accuracy and headshots. COD never has done that. And all the guns are super accurate when using hipfire. Still is halo. Looks like halo. Just with more mobility.

Completely agree - sums up my thoughts nicely.

EDIT: Last night I got in a BTB game of 2-flag CTF on Blood Gulch from Halo CE.

My girlfriend was sitting next to me - she's not a gamer at all, but she understands and respects my hobby. Without any initiation, she said "oh, wow... this is really slow, paced, huh? This is way different than your Advanced Warfare game."

She's right. And I guarantee she wouldn't have said that to this Halo 5 footage.

A bit hyperbolic methinks. It certainly looks different from old halo stuff but the basics are there, and with some adjustments that come from beta feedback it can be good.

If you remove sprint then you have to remove

Groundpound (now it becomes incredibly unbalanced without sprint)

Slide is gone

Shoulder charge is gone

Mobility is decresed meaning stage design changes

Thrusters can stay but will feel really out of place.

ADS has no effect on gunplay. It's just an update visual representation.

If you look at the score at the end this guy got 28 kills by himself. Red team couldn't even kill him, they didn't even put up a fight. The youtuber running around doing everything he wants will make the pace look faster. Granted it is faster overall but the way it's presented is also a factor. I'd like to see a match between two competent teams.

It looks good, though I'm not in the market for an Xbone. Announcing power weapon spawn is unnecessary.

Anybody waiting for the other foot to drop? I kinda like what I'm seeing but I'm afraid we haven't yet seen all the "innovations".

The whole time I watched the video I felt like the guy had the luckiest luck of all time running through that map. He was constantly catching people's backs or engaging enemies already running away or in a firefight. I only noticed once or twice someone getting the drop on him.
