Two men managed to catch a massive 15-foot long, 144-pound python in the --------------.

Nicholas Banos and trapping partner Leonardo Sanchez made their phenomenal find while just driving around.

”Second I get out of the car and I look over, it's this big python stretched there where the trees meet the water," Banos told ----------. ”And when we jumped at it, [Sanchez] goes and grabs it by the tail. The second he starts to grab it, the snake starts to b-line into the trees. So, he tells me, ‘Go for the head, Go for the head!'"

After several minutes of wrestling the snake, they managed to put the python into a massive bag and into the back of their van.

”We don't hunt for sport," said Banos. ”We're not hunting to kill. We hunt to remove. Catch and remove. But having to kill it was a little rough for us. We've never really had to do that before. So, it was satisfying but it was also a feeling of...a little bit of heartbreak."

I edited parts of the story to keep some suspense in the G/A/F game.

Those guys are braver than I am.

Florida, because one of the guy's last name is Sanchez.

But given the wild life angle to this, it could be Australia too.

I've handled live eel before, they were strong as fuck. How they managed to subdue this beast is incomprehensible to me.

Florida because people buy these burmese pythons, realise they get big enough to eat someone and just dump them in the wild.

We dont really do crushers in Australia, we prefer our snakes more bitey.

huuuuge snake, could feed a village.

i love pythons this big. makes me think about ancient snakes that are like as thick as a car

In hindsight, if they catch animals/snakes, but they never had to kill a python before, well, i have two questions:

1.- what do they usually do with their catches?
2.- why did they had to kill this one in particular?

Like alot of people, I wondering why they actually had to kill the thing.

These pythons are destroying the everglades. The mammal population there is being devastated by these snakes. They all need to be eradicated if the everglades is to survive as an ecosystem.

I like that these guys lamented having to kill the snake. Sometimes, hunters don't appreciate the fact that you ultimately are taking the life of something living. While we should prioritize the ecosystem and ourselves above animals, it doesn't mean we should celebrate the kill.

I don't think they really did given that later they said it felt so satisfying.

No, they said it was satisfying but a little heartbreaking. I imagine the challenge was the exciting part. Pythons are really strong. Even with two people, it'd require quite a bit of strength to pin it down for the kill.

Angry Grimace

Two cannibals are eating a clown. One turns to the other and says "does something taste funny to you?"

There's two things here:

1) They may not have personally killed it. The "Python Challenge" is a competition that Florida runs to remove invasive Burmese Pythons. All of them are euthanized afterwards; so it gets killed either way and they may mean that they indirectly killed it by turning it in.

2) Whether they can be turned in live or not depends on the specific area (the competition covers all of the state/national park) If not, the official website literally contains instructions on how to properly shoot them in the head.

Can't imagine how strong that thing must be. Just pure muscle. Those guys could have been strangled easily.

Also what kind of bag holds this thing without it breaking loose?

I fucking hate careless Burmese python owners; those idiots think pythons are cool pets until they get too big and release a invasive species into the wild because they don't want to deal with the snake anymore.

Should've just killed the snake instead.

It's like you don't understand ecosystems and that pythons are wreaking havoc on the everglades. Iguanas are a problem too.

perhaps i expressed it poorly, but i was saying that i actually do understand that, I just didn't know this was florida at first.
