Alas, my dear Filter fans, all good things must come to an end. Filter has been cancelled by the powers that be, and I just wanted to let you fans know how much I've enjoyed working on this show. I couldn't ask for a more supportive, enthusiastic and sweet fan base than you have been, and if you've enjoyed watching the show even half as much as I've enjoyed making it, then I will consider this a massive success. Our last episode EVER will air on December 19th. I will miss you and I thank you for your support and kindness, the show just wouldn't have been the same without you. You can always keep tabs on where I'll show up next on www.dianemizota.com. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. You are the best.

I couldn't help but laugh at the first comment on that link. It was just so blatantly hostile. I have no shame!

QFT.

Good riddance, says I. Any show who has an idiot fanbase that votes GTA: VC as the best original soundtrack (over Zelda and FF) for a game deserves to get canned.

Rest in peace, old friend.

Alas, the only halfway decent show on G4 is now gone. Sure, Filter as a show sucked but who could resist the always delightful Diane Mizota.

COMING UP NEXT ON G4, FASTLANE!!!!

Can't say i'm sad. It's an aquired taste to like most of the stuff on G4.

I'd take Filter any day though over Fastlane, The Man Show, that training camp thing, Arena...

I actually like Attack of the Show and Icons, but man, G4 as a whole is pretty much just an embarrassment of a network, and it only seems to be getting worse. It's not even a "videogames in quotation marks" network anymore. Now it's pretty much just "hey, here are some cars and some titties okay."

At least she got a job with a real network now.

I personally think Best Soundtrack and Best Original Score should always be separate categories.

Icons and Cinema Tech (sometimes) is the only non-embarassing thing to watch on that show. 99.9% of what's left doesn't even deal with video games.

Diane Mizota is one of the few show hosts on G4 that I can understand what is being said when she speaks. Adam Sessler and Morgan Webb will review a game, and I'll miss entire sentences. It's like they mumble while talking.

When Diane Mizota is in front of the camera she comes across as being really comfortable in her enviroment. She's is just about the best communicator G4 has. Being so incredibly cute doesn't hurt either.

So what you're telling me is. .

God ... I wish Tech TV was never bought out :(

That, or it was the other way around ... and Tech TV kept like 2 shows from G4.

I liked Filter, the "Most spectacular failures" and "10 worst games of all time" we're probably some of the absolute best things I've ever watched on G4. This show has pretty much been "cancelled" for a good while now though. The newest episodes weren't really anything like the older ones. It was like some bad rip-off of a VH1 list show that didn't have anything to do with gaming which really sucked because I think that formula could be cool for game programming. "I love the 80's" videogame style seems like the perfect way for G4 to reach out to a larger audience, but keep it real.

Now use that time to make Icons an hour long.
They just laid off the main writer for Icons which sounds like a pretty bad sign to me.

Hopefully this will put her in a financial situation only a hardcore porn career could fix.
:D

The odd thing about G4 is how they replaced a channel that successfully appealed to a rather limited segment (technology) by further segmenting that audience and attempting to appeal exclusively to it (videogames), only to fail spectacularly at it. Now they seem to be going in the complete opposite direction and are attempting to follow SpikeTV into creating a kind of Maxim/FHM/Stuffed television brand. It's a really odd strategy, at least if you want to call it that. It seems more like improvisation at this point.

As for Filter, I have nothing against Diane Mizota, but the show, like much of G4's initial programming was filler. Quality of the actual shows notwithstanding, there never seemed to be enough meritable content on G4's program lists to warrant launching a full blown network. Filter itself was particularly frustrating to watch because the Top 10 lists were drawn (IIRC) from online polls and such, and were generally skewed to some fairly absurd rankings. Rarely would you see a game get mentioned that wasn't made in the last 8-10 years. It would have been preferable to have had some knowledgeable hosts just get up there and present their choices and debate them a bit if anything.

Now all they have to do is cancel Elec. Play, Reviews on the Run, & Cheat and they won't be at the bottom of my tv networks list anymore.

Oh and they really need to rename the station, their not a games-only station anymore.

I would be happy about this, as Filter was just... offensive to gaming in general. But ten to one they will replace it with some other second hand Spike TV "Youth Culture" garbage like Fastlane. Maybe we just shouldn't have a network for gaming, I can't think of anything but review show and Cinematech a news show, and perhaps some more interesting version of Arena that would belong there.

which one was filter again? Honestly i couldnt tell the difference it was like every show on that channel has the same type of host. They came off as kinda cocky or el33tists, and had bad one liners in every sentence. Maybe if they would relax a bit it wouldnt be so damn painful to listen to them try and deliver punchlines based on video games for 24 mins *cringe*. Oh and that one huge guy on x play is scary and way too intense...

The best thing on G4 currently is Cinematech, specifically Nocturnal Emissions. That show has CURRENT trailers, things just revealed for Japanese release, mixed with some of the best of recent soft, and a lot of the more obscure or older titles. Featuring the live-action cinemas from the Saturn Shinobi game? Pure class.

And the smattering of adult soft doesn't hurt, either. :P

But I really don't watch G4 at all otherwise unless someone specifically says, "Watch Attack of the Show because [important game person] is on" here. And even then, I have trouble locating it buried under old reruns of The Man Show.

Gaming isn't ready for media primetime yet....we're good taken in small 15 minute chunks, but a whole 30 or 60 minute segment on games?

I found it novel at first...but my urge to play games overrides my fascination about watching videogame TV shows.

Filter was the show that aired those cliffy B's ignorant comments about toe jam and earl, so Ill forever hate this show. Hopefully after a year it'll disappear into nothingness. About fucking time.

Filter sucked. It was the proverbial "stick a hot girl in front of the camera, and we've got a show."

I don't even think she's into gaming. She just wants to be on TV. At least AotS and X-Play have some real geeks on them.

That was mainly due to the fact that you never got to say what your top 10 list would be for whatever category you were voting for. They already had 10 games up you just ranked them:(

Diane Mizota was the fakest and most cliche ridden girls on all of G4... at least you can tell Morgan Webb is somewhat of a gamer... good riddance. And those top 10 lists were goofy as anything - yeah, the N64 being #1 console ever :lol

Funny how things change. Almost exactly one year ago today, I came here in GAF to defend the G4 channel. It was because I had *just* got the channel and was in awe of how cool it was to have a dedicated channel about videogames. One year later, here I am and alas, I must bow in agreeance(sp?) with the masses here. The whole channel is now in the depths of utter and pure shit. I am thinking of streamlining my cable service back to basic cable, and the funny thing I don't even know if having even that will be necessary anymore once I get my HT room tricked out and ready.

Anyway I enjoyed having Filter on if only to watch the lovely Diane. I'll probably wind up keeping the channel since you really can't deny the appeal of Nocturnal Emissions. And occasionaly will still tune in to catch AOTS, AU, Street Fury(only for the hot chicks mind you), and the occasional special game show/convention coverage(E3 is once again right around the corner afterall).

Now they need to get rid of freaking Cheat. I swear, there is something wrong with that woman's mouth.

Again, we're on the same page here.

Morgan Webb is barely above a casual gamer.

I agree, she might not have been a big gamer but in addition to being more attractive, Diane Mizota is a much better actor with more stage presense than Morgan Webb has ever shown in every XP ep combined

When I went home over thanksgiving I checked G4 and Attack of the Show was on. They were explaining what an Irish Car Bomb is (alcoholic drink), the the proper way to drink it, and not to mention other drinking games. Seriously what the fuck? Are they that desperate for material :lol.

"G4 itself needs to be canceled."

People voted N64 as the #1 console of all time. This is over the PSX and the SNES.

So that pretty much proves that only socially challenged retards watched that show.
