K. LEE GAIDEN
I just saw an ad on G4TV for a show called E3 Live....It on May 16 at 7PM eastern, I believe....that would be a tape delay so I guess "E3 Live" is just a relative term :D

At any rate, I just caught a little bit of the ad and thought I would give you guys the heads up...

now to hope that satterfield and the rest of the crew listened to our bitching and giving us what we want

finally they get something right.

i hope they will be covering all the big confrences.

Well, I will tivo it for 'yall just incase there are some good next-gen tidbits here and there :)

Indeed.

I will be very surprised if G4's E3 show is anything more than just starring at boothbabes for it's entirety.

The Monday thing is the preshow, which will indeed be pretaped. Tuesday night will be a live press conference recap from the show floor. Wednesday through Friday will be two hours live from the show floor per day.

Hmmm...watch a pretaped G4 thing or watch live streaming versions of the Sony and MS press conferences. How does one decide?

SCEA conference is at 3:00pm PST and the MS one is at 6:45pm PST.

Well, you'll never see them live on TV, so streaming webcasts are the only choice for up-to-the-second press conference coverage. The recap show will have far better video quality, though.

i'd imagine you guys are gonna chop up the conferences or else they'd be like over 2-3 hours long

Correct. Most of the downtime and such will be removed. It will be a highlight reel. So if you want to see the full length version of this year's Sony Powerpoint presentation about how the console wars are over (again), catch the webcast.

They'll probably change their tune slightly and talk about how the handheld wars are over. That should keep me conscious for a few more minutes.

Heh, I remember watching Nintendo's and some of Microsoft's press conference live on TechTV in 2001. Interesting how now that they've been absorbed into an actual gaming-focused channel that isn't the case.

I was so glad to hear about this. It's great for me since I'm on dial-up, and it'll take me days of downloading to get what I want. The Nintendo conference will be must-see TV for me. Looking forward to Microsoft's as well. This is gonna be one hell of an E3 this year.

That's going to be annoying. Commericals will come and make you wait for more footage.

Webcast for me!

This better not be pre-empting The Whip Set.

What, you mean you don't see how the import tuner culture relates directly to gaming? Jeez man, get with it, people with slanted eyes love to play PS2 in their 14.5 second Civics... /sarcasm/

Screw that, I want GIRLS GONE WIRED!!!*

Girls Gone Wired — Debuts May 2005

Girls Gone Wired is THE digital beauty pageant for the 21 st century, a special series featuring the hottest 2D and 3D women on the planet. Video game vixens like Tomb Raider’s Lara Croft and Hitomi from Dead or Alive will vie against Final Fantasy’s Yuna and the girls of Konami’s Rumble Roses for titles like “Hottest Newcomer,” “Sexiest Voice” and “Most Likely to Kick Enemy Ass.” Contestants will strut their stuff before a panel of celebrity and expert judges. Finalists will be announced online and G4techTV viewers will have a chance to vote for the pageant’s top beauty. Titles and tiara will be handed out at a very special awards show sure to be the sexiest night of 2005!

Panel to include:
–Laura Civiello, VP of Acquisitions & Development, G4techTV
–Jade, (Mortal Kombat), Girls Gone Wired contender
–Additional panelist TBA

*p.s. this is a sarcastic post, G4.

I was really excited to hear about the ammount of coverage they are giving this year. Last year it was basically just took all the E3 content and spread in out over the summer. :-\

Yeah, 2001 was kind of the year we learned the hard way that live TV coverage of the E3 press conferences isn't worth the money or effort required. I think webcasts will be the only option for some time yet, unless one of the big guys like CNN starts doing it.
