I have a scene set up where i have a masked image as a button. The image underneath the mask is a movie clip. I want the functionality of mousing over the buttom causing the movie clip to begin to play. If the user moves his/her mouse off the button, I want the movie clip to pause (if possible). Then the movie clip would resume as the user re-mouses over the button. So on and so forth as the movie clip loops.

I have a link here to the .fla file if anyone would like to poke around and try to solve this issue for me. As it stands now, I am unable to even get the movie clip to play at all when you mouse over, let alone pause and continue.

I have no clue how to go about fixing it, so any help would be great.

You need to use actionscript to do this. I'd do it for you if I was at the crib... I'm at work now, when does it need to be finished?

Well, i figured out most of it.

That is the new file with most of the functionality I want. It starts playing the movie when you roll over and such.

Now I have a problem duplicating it all.

what i want to duplicate is on 3 layers, top layer is the transparent button, 2nd one is the layer mask, and the 3rd is the instance of the movie clip. i want to take all of that, and duplicate it out 100s of times

Do you know how I could easily do that? Is there a way to set the whole thing as an object or something like that and then just copy/paste it all those times as one object each time?

What exactly do you mean, duplicate? I can't really grasp what you're saying or need, as i don't have MX installed on this box.

Let me try explaning it this way.

I have the blade of grass. As a whole, it consists of 3 layers, the ones I described above. I want to be able to duplicate out the blade of grass, with all the layers and functionality, 100s of times over.

I dont know how else to really describe it beyond that.

God damn I am stupid. Ok, I figured it out. Just put everything I made into its own movie clip and just instance that movie clip 100s of times over.
