I dont know lets remeber the have retractable "razor" sharp claws, wich could tear thru a polar bears hide with relative ease, and they can jump. A jump-slash combo attack would be very hard for a polar bear to deflect

Like I said if the fight goes for more then say 30secs I think the Raptor would win for sure, but if the polar bear can grab the Raptor in that time it would win.

I mean a male lion can only fight another lion for 30 second intervals because of the animal’s large body and its high metabolic rate. The polar bear would suffer from the same problem.

polar bear versus a raptor..

another landslide for the polar bear.

the raptor was at best 3 feet tall, 6 feet long and weighed in at 200 pounds. Midnight snack perhaps. The raptor had 80 or so teeth and razor sharp talons but cutting a polar bear might just tick it off. And I'd hate to see an angry polar bear.

But the raptors were supposedly super aggressive. Little bitch could do some fast damage before getting killed ... and the depending on where the Raptor attacked, the Polar Bear could still bleed to death. That's what's great about a Polar Bear vs. Raptor fight. On the other hand, if it was a female Polar Bear, and the Raptor had a fear Polar cub snacks ... then it's game over for the Raptor ... especially if it's in the Polar Bear's environment.

Finally bought a new PSP, but then pushed the demon onto someone else. Jesus.
If this were the premise of a TV show, it would be the best damn show on television.

A BEAR IS NOT TRAPPED ON ITS BACK!!!!

IT CAN ROLL OVER WHEN ITS ON ITS BACK!

A bear is not a cow. A bear can actually get up after being tipped over. If you'd like to test this out, go tip over a cow ... then a bear. Assuming you get back from the second event, tell us which one was able to get up.

There's a misconception floating this thread that gorilla's are very ferocious.... generally speaking, they aren't.

Regardless the best battle is

Turtle vs. Polar....

That fight would be over SO quick... I mean how many years has the turtle been practicing Ninjitsu now?

Exactly. That's the problem I pointed out earlier. Unless it was a matter of territory, the Polar Bear would kill the Gorilla before it had a chance to get pissed.

Raptor would just die in the polar bears environment, regardless of what the bear is doing.

I know it's been said but a polar bear is not a turtle. Being on its back is not a bad thing. When it is on it's back it has all five weapons. (4 claws and its teeth) When it is upright it has only 3 as 2 feet must remain on the ground. So when it is upright it has more power and less weapons.

Under the environment factor, yeah. But if it's a neutral one then it's a great match up.

well for the sake of the argument we decided that both animals would have to be administered some type of substance that would cause them to go buck wild at the sight of each other, so the gorilla would be at its most aggressive and ferocious as would the Polar Bear, this is why i said the polar bear would win. A crazed gorilla is still no match for a crazed Polar Bear

Well the Polar Bear would win even if it was under those circumstances. The point is that under normal ones, the gorilla just wouldn't have the fight in it.

As suggested in another thread, an Alligator vs. Polar Bear fight would be another interesting match up. Once again, the agility goes to the alligator ... and they're already pretty aggressive, with comparable jaw power to a polar bear. However, the polar bear would have the size advantage, and overall raw power advantage. The alligator would stand a good chance at killing the polar bear though ... unlike a gorilla.

well we realizd that there is no chance in hell these two would meet under normal circumstances so we never looked at it from that aspect. The discussion was always centered around the fact that this was a gladiator-esque arena spectacle.

Crazed animal group (think the movie 12 Monkies ... or even PETA if you want to use real life group) frees the animals at the zoo. They'd meet under those circumstances. Those are relatively normal.

The alligator has that awesome attack where it clamps down on you (1200 pounds of pressure per square inch) and spins around like a maniac, tearing your limb off. This is a fight that the polar bear wouldn't laugh about at least.

It can get up to 1200 pounds, so it ain't tiny. 13 feet long.. that's a lot of animal to wrestle with. But all the polar bear would have to do is keep out of reach of those teeth, or find some duct tape and lasso the mouth shut...

Gator vs Polar Bear is a tough one, personally i think that the bear would have a tough ass time keepin away from the gator, they are an especially shady breed because they will sit still and wait till they are within striking distance. That fact coupled with the power of their jaws spells almost certain doom for the bear. But again the bear is huge and that alone may be too much for the gator.

Polar bears live in the north pole area(Exxcept the ones that got "Lost" ;) ), pinguins in the south :p

Was this a trap?

Polar bear wins I think.

After serious thought

Polar Bear wins in all cases. Would probably be most seriously injured in the raptor case but the size, weight, and strength advantage goes to the polar bear in all cases.

The real question is how long would the fights last.

It took some creative Googling, but I finally figured out the show. It's called Animal Face-Off, on the Discovery Channel.

I thought everybody already knew about this....like it was a well known (recent) pop culture thing. I was surprised that nobody on the forum could help me out. It looks like the series has already aired, but there are lots of replays coming up. If anybody knows where I can find torrents of this stuff, that would be awesome too though ;)

Saltwater Crocodile vs Great White Shark -- airing Wednesday January 5 8 PM
