hey GAF, my friends and I are looking for a place to camp in florida, but are having a hard time finding one. the 5 of us are camping from may 13-21st and and we're from ontario so trying to excape this horrid canadian winter :D

what we're looking for are:
(must haves)
-allow alcohol
-allow fires

(ideally)
-on/close to a beach
-within a couple hours of orlando
-allows you to tie things to trees, such as tarps, for when it rains, or for shade

also any tips/tricks for people who haven't really camped before? i imagine we'll all remember our bug spray and bathing suits, but i'm almost positive we'll forget a lot of useful shit.... such as tent pegs etc, lol. and is it really necessary to tie up your garbage in trees?

You're doing it wrong. Go to the Florida Keys or Mexico. You are simply guaranteeing a skeeter-gator hell.

rent a cabin, it'll be more fun.

if that's too pricey or isn't practical then make sure you get a good plot of land not next to anyone. you'll probably be up late drinking but the families that surround you will be sleeping early with their kids.

You can find a campground on or near virtually every beach in Florida. And are you looking for a Gulf Coast beach or an Atlantic Coast beach? Gulf has bigger waves and is more ideal for fishing, while Atlantic is more of a 'real' ocean.
