Better than coming back to a police state.

OH GOD POLITICS I JUST LOCKED IT!

But seriously, I can dress warm. Do you think I'm saying we'll be staying outside the entire time?

Where are the more racially diverse areas in Canada? Is there a large population of Asian there(and where)?

Both Vancouver and Toronto (2 of the 3 big Canadian cities) have scads of Asians.

Bah, I'd say it's either 2 (Toronto and Montreal, >2mil) or 6 (Vancouver, Ottowa, Calgary, Edmonton >1mil) :p

Come to Toronto and see the CN Tower.

I'm not a good salesman.

Oh yeah, and tons of Asians. We're the most multicultural city in the world, outside of Crawford Texas.

I'm just so used to the big three - but I've got nothing against the other 3, they're cool. :)

Let me testify that there is an assload of a difference between the amount of asians in Montreal (and the east coast in general) and the amount of asians in Vancouver, Edmonton, etc.

There's also alot less East Indians in Montreal than in the rest of canada, but more arabs.

Vancouver had great weather and clean streets. Richmond had a lot of Asian food. BC seems like a great place to plop down, but why does it vote so much for NDP instead of Liberal?

Anyways, Liberals have been in charge of Canada for a while already. We might have to talk about meeting up in Spain or Sweden.

Vancouver has more than 2 million now. So that should be ">3mil". :p

Calgary, Edmonton, and Ottawa are below 1mil or very near it.

Population-wise, Vancouver doesn't really identify well with either group. But considering its nature and status, I'd much sooner place it with Toronto and Montreal as a "big" city.

So, what would you guys consider the most liberal Canadian city? I have no idea on this stuff, as I've never had the ambition to visit Canada (sorry doodz).

Most likely Toronto. They have a lot of cultural festivals and a huge gay pride celebration every year.

Major city? Vancouver. Peace and love, man.

Toronto is fairly liberal, too.

Just understand that "conservative Canada" (prairies/maritimes) would sooner vote Democratic if placed in America.

Errm, you've got the wrong idea. I wasn't looking for huge gay pride celebrations, just places where my vote might count.

But I've seen pictures of Toronto... at least it looks nice.

Ottowa is definitely over 1 million afaik. Edmonton and Calgary are like 50k away.

Anywhere but Alberta (except downtown Edmonton), Saskatchewan, or (some/all? not really sure of their voting habits) of Manitoba is fine by that criteria.

Well maybe you had a different meaning for liberal? :p

Here in Toronto we're forced by law to engage in gay sex once a month. It's a real pain in the ass.

So the Leafs really do 'suck'. :p

Seriously tho, you guys should not move to Canada. They need your vote in 2008. :) You donot want America to be fully republican.

I would also highlight the Canadian North as not entirely liberal. I wouldn't call it a conservative haven either, but religious fervor is greater there and natives are attached to traditions and values.

It's unlikely these American refugees wanted to move there, but just in case they want to, it doesn't hurt to mention it.

budum-chissssh!

I guess the American version of liberal views and the Canadian version are much, much different.

So, Toronto's good, yeah? We should do this. Not the gay sex. The meet up. Without gay sex.
Maybe
.

You do realise it's legal for women to walk around topless in Ontario?

Damn them for not taking advantage of this!

But hey any female Gaffers wants to taste some Canaidan liberalism, feel free.

Plus all of America's pot heads should move up here, with your help we could not only decriminalise, but legalise as well!

I cannot endorse any GAF Canada meet-up which takes place in the East. They're only barely Canadian there, anyway.

Albertans are the Yanks of the North. I fear B.C is close enough to be infected. Witness Gordon Campbell.

Montreal is the only place to be. Canadian values with the european look. Go to Toronto or Vancouver if you want to feel like youre still in the states

Dammit. I'm not up with the new slang on the street, yo.

Bish's basement is the prime buppy hangout in the Great White North.

Canada (Politically)

Urban = Left Wing
Rural = Slightly, ever so slightly, right of centre

For instance...Conservatives generally take much of the Maritimes (I'm from Nova Scotia myself), but they don't take Halifax, its major city, which goes NDP. The mainstream party furthest to the left in Canada. So...if you want liberal, go big cities.

Azih

Oh yeah, Alberta would be considered dead centre in the States and is considered crazy extremist right wing by the rest of Canada. Quebec is the most leftist, quite a few socialist elements there.
