About to head out and meet some dude in order to sell him our old washer/dryer unit.

How's this for a receipt?

Receipt

Date: Jan. 21, 2010

Amount paid: $100 cash

Item: Kenmore stacked combo washer/dryer

Condition: Used, in working order

Stipulation: Sold as is

*my signature*

My name
My address line 1
My address line 2

Is that enough? Too much? Never really doen something like this. Any suggestions?

Really just want to unload it, we have a new set. It does work, though it's VERY used (dings all over and loud). But it does what it's suppsed to do.

About to head out in 20 minutes, so please help.

Thanks!

Hm, I dunno -- maybe add the buyer's name? And make sure you have a copy for yourself.

That crossed my mind, but then figured I really don't want to have anything to do with this guy after he buys it. What purpose would it serve btw? Curious.

If there's a chance it can come in handy, I'll do it.

I'll wait a few more minutes before making any changes.

Anyone else?

And a place for the buyer to sign.

For $100 I wouldn't really worry about it. But if it makes you feel better just make sure you have two copies, and that both of you sign both copies.

Edit: Damn beaten on both suggestions.

A receipt? For a $100 transaction? Not really necessary. Otherwise, try googling "bill of sale".

Thanks for the help guys. Will do exactly what was suggested.

Peace.

Wow, seriously? It's a $100 Craigslist transaction... Help him load it into his truck, take his $100, erase his number from your phone. Done. No need for a receipt. You're way overthinking this.

In case there is an issue later on, you will have proof he was happy with it and the item was sold as seen. As suggested, get his signature if you are signing something for him. It is unlikely that you will need it but it is always good to have some sort of correspondence or proof that both parties were aware of the terms.

I'd go with this, but a receipt is never a bad idea I guess.

Definitely get his signature if you're going to do it otherwise its kinda worthless.
