tbh I'd say he sounds just as lazy, loud and dumb on Yeezus (i.e. But I got her back in and put my dick in her mooooooouth and notably Bound 2) , but it works well with the abrasive musical style without being excessively self-indulgent compared to TLOP (it still is because it's Kanye, even though it's his most concise album).
Bound 2 is trash, don't get me wrong. I've never liked that track.
Yes, the production helps on Yeezus, but something's still off on TLOP. It's artificial. I never thought he was particularly witty, even back in the CD/LR days, but Yeezus at least sounds intentional. Parts of TLOP sound like he's trying to keep the character of "Kanye" alive but he's way less inspired so he's just repeating outlandish things until something sticks. Leads to this feeling that I'm laughing at him than with him. His bad qualities are then magnified, aided in part by the album being ~25 minutes longer.
Plus TLOP gets downright boring, which is the worst sin of all. Ultralight Beam, Father Stretch My Hands Pt. 1, Low Lights, back half of 30 Hours, No More Parties In LA, Facts. These are nothing moments. The best stretch is from Waves to Wolves, then it finishes strong with Fade and the Saint Pablo DLC, which is now the best track on the album.
And how the hell did he both waste the beat on Freestyle 4 with his trash verse, AND not get Busta Rhymes on it smh
