Trilogy wouldn't be nearly as good without the darkness and creepiness.

The intro to Rolling Stone makes me really uncomfortable for some reason...

Initiation is definitely the most uncomfortable song out of Trilogy. The changes in pitch, the lyrics...yikes. Really good though.

another great track

ppl didnt care for thursday when it dropped because its so...airy but i love it.

It's definitely the weakest out of the Trilogy, but it's still really, really good.

So who is the best trap producer?

I don't know y'all. It's definitely between Metro and Mike WiLL, with Luger as the OG and 808 Mafia competing if you combine 'em all. London ain't even close and I never understood why people mentioned him alongside Metro and co., even when talking about Thug collabos alone. I would have said Mike WiLL has more range than Metro, but I don't even know anymore since Metro has been killing R&B features like Ride of Your Life.

Unsurprisingly, there were a lot of similar sounding beats while I was combing through for this, that were hard, but just generic lol

Mike WiLL is maybe a little bit ahead, thanks to Ransom 2; if Metro does something like Ransom 2 (an album), then he'll be number one.

If we're talking about favorite trap producers, my vote has to go to RonnyJ. He's done some amazing production in the past 2 years:
- Gospel
- ULT
- Gook
- Knotty Head
- Flying Nimbus
- Ultimate

Gospel is so hard.

Name 'em, I mostly just trawled through wikipedia (which is especially bad for Zaytoven).

Young Thug - Memo / Worth It / Digits / Do You Love Me / Daddy's Birthday
Rich Gang - Lifestyle
Rich Homie Quan - They don't know

In no particular order but all dope tracks I like w/ london beats.

what is the best Weeknd song in you guys' HUMBLE. opinions?
Either Same Old Song or Feel It Coming.

HyTunes coming soon.
MigosThuggin coming soon.
MetroThuggin coming soon.
PostThuggin coming soon.
album exec. produced by Drake coming soon.
40 songs with Kanye coming soon.
I'm pretty sure Thug has 40 tracks with Ye, none of them will ever get released though. Shit, I'm pretty sure Kendrick said he and Kanye made the same amount too. Ye's vault will probably be Prince-sized when he departs this Earth.

Man, finally have the time to listen to Perfect Timing again after having no time this week to do anything after coming home. It's a good day.

Vic Mensa out here selling 13k copies first week

I'd argue the L is on you for expecting him to do otherwise?

Yep I think I hate the thread.
I'm a part of the problem.

How can I make this not read like a sarcastic post, I gotta clean up my lyrics/gif posts and spam.

Gotta make a change for my own posts given the current climate for Community threads in general

Not that they couldn't be less relevant to hip hop or black culture for that matter, seeing those old people react channel to The Story of OJ is cringey as fuck. The dust.

I'm in feelings at the moment over a girl who I was starting to fall for just did me dirty and cut me off.

This Ugly God tape is fucking everything right now.

Why would you do this instead of making the Rocky/Tyler thing official?

I'd rather someone remix Waves, NMPILA or literally any other track besides this.

Goddamnit at Ferg saying "Why they crucify Cosby." I get the fact the man was an inspiration for a whole generation, but the man raped close to 70 women. Either 70 women have made a coordinated effort to take down a whole generation's idol or he actually did it. Occam's Razor has to apply here.

So who is the best trap producer?

Here are some of the best productions (read: not songs) from each. They collaborate a lot, but for me the highlights of things they each were primary producers on or didn't co-produce with someone else on this list (which there's a lot of):

Metro Boomin
Rick Ross - Neighbourhood Drug Dealer
Future - Thought It Was A Drought, I Serve The Base, Where Ya At, Mask Off, Sorry
Young Thug - The Blanguage
Yes I know it's a low effort remix but he still took it to another level
, Speed Racer
21 Savage - X
Travi$ Scott - Skyfall
Tinashe - Ride of Your Life

Mike WiLL Made-It
Juicy J - Bandz A Make Her Dance/Pour It Up, Show Out, Ain't Nothing
2 Chainz - Fork
Future - Move That Dope
Kanye West - Mercy (drums)
ScHoolboy Q - What They Want
Mike WiLL Made-It - Choppin' Blades, Possible, 23, Perfect Pint, Razzle Dazzle, Aries/YuGo, Emotions Unlocked, Nothing Is Promised
Rae Sremmurd - No Type, Throw Sum Mo, Black Beatles
Big Sean - Paradise
Kendrick Lamar - Humble

London On Da Track
T.I. - About The Money
Young Thug - Check
Tyga - Hookah
Drake - Sneakin

Southside
Wale - Tats on My Arm
Machine Gun Kelly - Wild Boy
Future - Fuck Up Some Commas, Perkys Calling
The Throne - Illest Motherfucker Alive

TM88
Travi$ Scott - coordinate
Lil Uzi Vert - XO Tour Llif3

Zaytoven
Future - Lay Up, Real Sisters
Migos - Versace
OJ Da Juiceman - Make Tha Trap Say Aye
Gucci Mane/Jeezy - So Icey

Lex Luger
Waka Flocka Flame - Hard N Da Paint,
Rick Ross - BMF, MC Hammer
The Throne - H.A.M.
A$AP Ferg - Let It Bang

Sonny Digital
Future - Racks (YC, but Future really), Same Damn Time
2 Chainz - Birthday Song
50 Cent - I'm The Man
21 Savage - Red Opps

Ima be honest dude. You don't seem well enough informed to be starting a discussion like this and having a straight up answer.

It is pure weirdness and worrisome that you label Kanye West - Mercy for the drums under Mike Will but you cannot bother naming more than 5 songs by any other producer other than Mike Will and Metro Boomin.

He got the list of Wikipedia as an example. It's meant to start a discussion on who the best is atm. Someone said London and then gave examples of that production.

Exactly. It's not comprehensive, based on that and a YT most viewed search, and obviously just my opinion. I don't have access to my full music library ATM.

Also, I excluded a ton of dope songs that are dope because of what the artists did on them but not necessarily examples of exceptional production.

Also I think y'all would be surprised how many of these producers collab. A ton of Southside's shit is done with Metro, for example, but you wouldn't know because it only has Southside's tags on there. Same with Sonny.

Mercy is a rare exception because Mike WiLL's contribution to that song is so clear and significant. Not to take credit away from Lifted, though.

Y'all are supposed to help me fill the gaps.

The most notable example of that producer collab is "FSMH Pt. 1". I think HudMo publically bitched about how he did most of the work for that song, but everyone thinks it's Metro because of the tag placement.

But, out of the 5 you listed, I'm gonna give it to Mike Will. The beats on the Sremmlife projects are always great.

My favorites by him are:
- Black Beatles
- Burnin
- Drinks on Us
- DNA
- HGTV
- We Can't Stop
Doesn't matter what other producers do this year, no id got producer of the year on lock.
I'm tempted to agree. The production on 4:44 is phenomenal, though I'm not the biggest fan of the project in general.

An I the only one in here just "Ehhh" on No ID's production on 4:44? It's really one of those rare projects recently where the content carries everything. Between Jay's flow and the music, it doesn't get me going.

I am completely fine with you trying to start a discussion, that's always great. What I had a problem with is how you formatted it as if other producers didn't have much else to their name.

You didn't say IDK guys could you show me more songs from these producers so I can see what y'all see. You compared these producers and only listed 3 or two songs from some producers then 10 songs from ones you prefer. Surely you can look at your post and see how someone would think it is pretty skewed?

Producers deserve more respect than that

I am down to post songs once I get out of traffic tho

Why would you remix Waves or NMPILA? They're literally perfect.

I'm totally ehh on it. I think it's far from his best work and there isn't much that stands out to me. I wouldn't call it bad, but there are no crazy samples or patterns that grabbed me.

I guess you're right, I should have been more transparent about how I came upon that list at first.

Also because they're the bigger producers I presume there's better documentation when it comes to their discographies anyways and biases it.

Come on breh, Family Feud, 4:44, Moonlight, Smile = dope beats

He ain't re-inventing the wheel but I think he did a good job here and is far from "Ehhh" territory

I do wonder what kind of stuff that goes on behind the scenes regarding tags. If Metro sticks a tag on it is a guarantee he did most of the production, probably not.

I'll go Southside and Mike Will out of that list.

Well, the purpose of a remix is to let other rappers have a chance on hot beats. I'd love to see some rappers do what Gibbs did to NMPILA: recite their own bars on the dope production.
Every remix is gonna pale in comparison to the original so what's the point.

We'll probably never know but a lot of producers collaborate much more frequently nowadays and try to at least put the names of who helped in the credits. I doubt it's like how Dre would have a whole team pumping out beats but he gets the sole credit for it.

As for the top current producers, the holy trinity has to be Mike Will, Metro and Sizzle. I'd put them in their own tier.

Production on 444 is bliss. The samples are the feminine voice that accompanies Hov throughout the album teasing out of him emotion and subject matter he has shied away from in his 20+ yr career. Spoilt for bars and quotables. Bless up guru too, jay's voice is great on this from sounding like he's in the booth giving confession to slightly intoxicated on moonlight. Jay sounds isolated and his vocals are not the usual double track we are used to, sounds like a live album. Top it all off with dope videos.

Incredible project.
