GAF Hype meter leading into E3: X360 vs NR vs PS3

Not really. We just had a big 360 info blow out and I'm sure that changed many outlooks. At least mine did.

I love how many people come out with the "I have zero interest in what Nintendo is offering." card

Every E3 is the same :D

I <3 teh underdogs
well if every E3 is the same.. nintendo is sure to disappoint right? reggie!

1) PS3
2) X360

3) what?

360 looks nice, but I'm just underwhelmed. And the whole live community bullshit pisses me off. No I don't want to talk to geeky 30 somethings in their parents' basement in the middle of the night during a game.

SYSTEM hype level(100 point scale)
360........40 I'll be more hyped when I see more than just prettier versions of current titles

PS3........15 Sony is notorious for over hyping their systems, so I'll wait and see.

NR..........1 Nintendon't have a clue when it comes to hardware. They're the Ross Perot of this race. You never know what crazy shit they are going to come up with.

Interest for X360 has pretty much dropped off the face of the earth after yesterday. PD0 was really the game I wanted for it and it disappointed. Hopefully things'll look better at E3.

Right now it's Nintendo and Sony tied, with MS behind them somewhere.

You don't have a clue what you are talking about. Nintendo is the only company that makes solid products that aren't faulty. Both PS2 and to a lesser extent XBOX 1st Generation machines shit the bed. Nintendo stands by their quality and you get the best franchises available as well.

I've lost all interest in anything that's not wall guy related.

I guess I was hyped for all of the consoles before, but now I'm just awaiting current console games like FFXII, Zelda, DoD, etc.

In order.

1. PS3 + REV push

no news = good news in this instance. The less we know the greater the hype.

2. X360

I still can't wait for the MS conference and the missing games (sonic, stubs, halo) and I'd love to see if they get SE after all this website fiasco.

1. PS3 - brace yourselves for some stunning 1st party offerings
2. NR - pure curiosity, I hope they do come through with something revolutionary
3. Nintendo DS new stuff - supposedly some really cool stuff coming through at E3

1) Revolution - Its a Nintendo, Co. product.
2) PS3 - Curious to see the case design... suspicious they have some HW-innovation of thier own.
4) XBOX36o - Oh, man. They do not appear to have thier shit together. I can't see where the heck they'll get thier Flagship title. PD0... well, I'm sure it will look increible at E3-06. But right now, all your gonna get to see is a "work in progress" as its obviously stuck in XBX 1.5 limbo as they move it from its near final XBX1 state to the 36o.

------

Why are you people still concidering PC ports as XBX exclusives? The whole reason you have exclusives is b/c people simply can not play the game anywhere else. They are forced to buy the system its on... or do without.

1. PS3 -- Will PS3 graphics blow away X360's?
2. X360 -- Can it recover from the underwhelming unveiling?
3. Rev -- Just want to see what it's all about. Nintendo's been very secretive, as usual.

1.- PS2
2.- Revolution

3.- Ecksbocks three-siddy.

:lol That fake Revolution video actually excited me for Nintendo's E3 preconference. If it weren't for it the Rev would probably be at 3rd place.

Maybe thats because the cubes weren't being used that much =P

Nintendo strength is software. Their hardware choices for the last two generations have been horrible. But they have a strong following for the AAA titles so people buy their hardware. If they could get Super Mario, Pokemon & Zelda playing on a toaster I'm sure it would sell.

SPILL THE BEANS!

I want to see what kind of engine Naughty Dog has cooked up on this thing.

All of the hardware for this gen is really about IBM + ATI/nVidia

The question in terms of graphics capabilities on Revolution would be if Nintendo invests at least enough to see a decent increase in performance over the hardware in the Xbox 360 relative to the gap between system releases. If they plan on releasing a new system at $199 again... probably not. Otherwise, they should be in decent enough shape with what IBM and ATI will be providing them with.

We should see in a matter of days.

There strength is software. But if you are trying to tell me that the design of the Gamecube console and the indroduction of the Wavebird controller is inferior to PS2 and XBOX's bulky designs then you are a true fool.

Also Nintendo is doing a great job in the HDTV market with most games supporting a widescreen format as well as progressive scan. Pretty much most XBOX games are progressive scan, but so few have had the widescreen format making them look very ugly and stretched. Thankfully from the sound of things 1080i will lead the next wave.

1) Xbox 360 - I'll be getting it this year. Fuck the mtv special.
2) NR - Still waiting to hear about the games but will probably look better than PS3.
3) PS3 - I expect the launch titles to suck like previous Sony systems. Probably pick it up a year or two later when some decent games come out.

I'm thinking Sony isn't going to drop the ball in the same way as last time. Wait and see!

What are the chances Developers for the Xbox360 could now say, "Fuck off Microsoft, we are going to put in drivers for the Driving Force Pro and you are going to like it!" ????

In terms of HYPE, here is how I currently rank it and why...

1. Revolution - The simple reason I'm most hyped for this is because I don't know shit about it. Mystery is by its very nature exciting, and therefore I can't resist its crazy, nuts-o allure. Whatever Nintendo does it'll be different, and I can always appreciate that regardless of the final verdict. So, for being mysterious and throwing tons of mixed messages and curve balls, Revolution wins top for hype. What the fuck are you plannin', Nintendo?

2. PS3 - I know a bit about the system, from various reports... and there's SOME things we can pretty much put good betting money on. And because it's going to be a "traditional" console (I'm guessing, comparative to Nintendo's outing) there's less suspense. That said, knowing the rumoured power behind it and the guaranteed big support gets me very hyped. I hope I get thrown a bone and we see GT5 and maybe MGS4, but I'm setting my expectations low.

3. Xbox 360 - Nothing against Microsoft, but the leaks this past week have been atrocious. And I don't mean what we've seen was necessarily bad or unimpressive (with, of course, wall guy, DOA4 and Tony Hawk as an exception) but because there was so much leaked that there's very little mystery left behind the actual system. Oh, I know they got cards to play. I know their are announcements comin' that'll surprise a few folks, and I know there are games we'll see that'll knock my socks off. But because of the least surprises left among the system unveilings, Xbox360 is in third.

?! What's this thing about shonky Tony Hawk Next Gen... got a link? I'm not surprised though.. they churn these out like briskets - is it photoreal at least?

They showed a short clip during the MTV unveiling, I'm not sure if they got it up anywhere else. Might check MTV. But pretty much it looked exactly like a current gen games. And I mean exactly.

The gamecube design? What about it? Its small, has a handle and is the only system that doesn't play DVDs. Nintedo Power!

I never liked the Wavebird controller. The button layout is just plain goofy. Yes, the first Xbox controller was too big. The S controller fixed that and of the three it is my favorite.

1) PS3: I mean, come on, it's the fucking PlayStation 3.
2) Revolution: I've always been a fan, but it never ceases to amaze me how easily people forgive and forget when it comes to Nintendo. My expectations are seriously quite low. Nintendo has to absolutely blow my mind for me to regain the faith I had in them pre-PS1.
3) X360: Didn't buy Xbox, so my interest is low to begin with. As of right now, I really don't care. There's going to have to be a megaton regarding developers jumping ship for me to take notice.

Revolution - Nintendo may have learned from their mistakes?
PS3 - will be a monster with next-generation movie capability
PS2 - Kindom Hearts II, Grandia III, and possibly FFXII
XBox - maybe MS won't completely abandon it

360 - PDZero was the one game I actually wanted from the launch, and that's just been flushed down the toilet. Maybe next E3 they can win me back

1. PS3
2. 360

The other console will be a laughing stock, yet somehow everyone here will say nintendo stole the show again.

Anyone with half a clue can easily check your posting history and realize that they never 'won' you to begin with. This place is amazing

Whatever XBoy. I certainly don't want MS to win, but I've got enough to buy every console easily and would have gotten a 360 anyway just for Rare. However, PD0 was the only game worth buying outside of the Japanese stuff.

I just hope PD0 is delayed and fixed. None of the Japanese games will be ready until at least 2006 so I've got time.

Personally, I'd love to see Nintendo and Sony stomp a mudhole in MS, but I know that isn't going to happen. And MS does have Rare and several other decent titles.

Revolution - Nintendo may have learned from their mistakes?

5 years from now

Revolution2 - Nintendo may have learned from their mistakes?

5 years from then

Revolution3 - Nintendo may have learned from their mistakes?

loop

Seriously. How many gens till Nintendo "learns from their mistakes", I bought that shit this gen and was sorely dissapointed. It's too late, the ship has sailed Nintendo...good luck Ninty, you're going to need it big time Next-gen.

We are not all nintendo fanboys or white guys trying to be japanese you know...

We? It's people like us that even know about E3. Mention E3 to any casual gamer and they will probably think it's a new band.
