gaf running slow?

The amount of traffic pissed away by bots infuriates me at times.

One of our client sites (which is a small business that isn't that old and well known) was basically getting smoked every night by them. We ended up just blocking India period and that caught 80% of it. The bots were targeting a particular Wordpress plugin that was difficult to cache due to it being search-result based. I worked out that the bot formatted its url parameters in a slightly unusual order so put a security challenge on that pattern and that caught a lot of the remaining shit.

Cloudflare periodically sends me amusing emails about how alarmingly high a percentage of traffic is being blocked.

It has been slow for me and I had to verify I am human. How is bender bender still posting?

Don't know how it works, but it's pretty annoying when I keep getting checks when browsing the forum. Shouldn't it make a verification only when you open gaf in your browser tab for the first time?

DDoS attacks aren't very polite

It's strange, mobile remains stuck in a loop regardless of the browser I use. Fortunately, the desktop version is working fine now

I found a fix for that

Just put your phone on airplane mode for a few seconds then switch back to wifi. Reloading it again should take you to the site

Are ddos attacks illegal? I don't know much about them other than the most general information.
Yeah, they are. In the US, specifically, they can be prosecuted under the definition of: Knowingly causing the transmission of a program, information, code, or command, and as a result of such conduct, intentionally causes damage without authorization to a protected computer.

"Damage" can be defined as "Any impairment to the integrity or availability of data, a program, a system, or information."

Not sure if related:
