Sounds like your hard drive might be powering down and the new HBC code doesn't power it up properly. I can't think of a method to fix that, unfortunately. Perhaps you should fire off an e-mail to the hackmii support forums and it may get fixed in the next version.nincompoop said:Well I obviously tried that already, it won't let me select USB unless I'm returning from a program that was reading from the hard drive, then I can select it but the screen goes blank for a few seconds before displaying the homebrews on my SD card again. There's nothing wrong with my HDD, I can still use it with other programs just fine.
Clipper said:OK, I've released a new modification of TBR to allow for installation of cIOSes on 4.3 virgin Wiis. It's using methods that have been known for a while now, but nobody made an app secure enough for me to recommend in the tutorial, so I just made my own. Only problem is that I don't have a virgin 4.3 Wii to confirm my mods work, so if you've been waiting, let me know if it works or doesn't.
nbcjr said:is there any zone-free dvd player for the wii? i think mplayer does it, but mine doesnt play dvds. thanks
If you're Wii is newish, then there is no way for it to play DVD discs. If your Wii drive can read those discs, then MPlayer CE is the app you want to look into to watch them, I believe. Make sure you install the IOS202 that it asks for.nbcjr said:can anyone help me? many thanks![]()
There's a few here and you cna find others by searching for "Configurable usb loader forwarder" and other similar searchesJonnyram said:Is there any other channel launcher for USB Loader besides that horrific black one?
I use the XNE-like interface, btw. Love it to bits.

TwinIonEngines said:Clipper, your Trucha bug Restorer MOD worked great on my brother's virgin 4.3 Wii. The only (minor) problem is that it seems to activate the burn-in protection dimming as soon as it boots. It goes away as soon as you make any input, but it's a little disconcerting.
I love the horrific black forwarder. I wish I had its music as an MP3.
Which one is the XNE-like interface, btw? I use coverflow 3d

Oh, I've got a question... The main reason my brother is doing the homebrew thing is he wants to play Another Code R. Does he need a region-free app or can he just install it and run it with USB Loader? He is NTSC and looking to buy a PAL disc.
You're in luck. Check the Mario image two posts down from the top of this page. I recently updated the tutorial for people in your situation.J@hranimo said:So I'm pretty green as well when it comes to homebrew and I've wanted to get into it for a while, so I got a Wii a couple months. Stupidly enough I updated my Wii to 4.3 and I'm not sure there's anyway to hack it now. Is there a way to work around this or should I just play the waiting game?
EvilMario said:Monster Hunter was a bit of a pain to get going, but at least we can just leave Animal Crossing permanently in the disc slot once again.
Dragona Akehi said:A pain? You just have to have it load IOS222.![]()
richisawesome said:Thats what I thought. Started from scratch once again, and it still doesn't work, yet other IOS222-dependent games do.
I guess it's just my wii playing up. I guess it'll be the one game stuck in the disc drive from now on...unless I decide to play Metroid Prime Trilogy. :lol

Now he knows!!!Dragona Akehi said:You do know you can make it automatically save the preference to load Tri with 222 right? Right?
Homebrew on the Wii does not replace the firmware. You install a channel and also some additional IOSes, which are essentially little mini-OSes, but the original firmware remains 100% intact. That all assumes you follow the steps in the GWHT (look for the Mario image), as there is some other stuff out there that will mess with your firmware and screw it up.schennmu said:So I'm thinking about going the homebrew road with my Wii. Once I have done this, can I go back to official firmware if I ever want to or is this not possible anymore?

Everything in the GWHT is safe.schennmu said:Ok, cool.

This is safe to do? I really would like to be able to access the Wii Shop. Sorry, I'm kind of catious with this kind of stuff![]()
thanks, this workedClipper said:This is almost certainly not homebrew related. Also, your Wii might be OK. Unplug it from the wall for about 10 minutes and then plug it back in and try switching it on again.
Oh, also remove your SD card.
There is an app in the works but it has not been released yet. A page will be added to the GWHT when it is.Melhisedek said:I think I read somewhere that Gamecube USB Loader was possible... Is that true? And what page should I follow for details?

Can you confirm that that IOS actually does play everything?Clipper said:Waninkoko has released rev 20 of IOS249. It has support for more slots and more base IOSes. One of these base IOSes (56) seems to have the best qualities of both 37 and 57 and means we can now have one IOS that plays everything with fast load times to boot.
I'm just about to update the tutorial now.

SS4Gogita said:Uh, you still won't be able to play GC games with anything other than a GC controller.
Well, I can't test everything. Others have tested problematic games like Monster Hunter and USB mic games and they all work so far. I've personally confirmed that it is as fast as 57 for SSBB. If there are complaints down the line, we'll amend things, but it seems like 56 is a good catch-all for the time being.Htown said:Can you confirm that that IOS actually does play everything?
Also, for the Cfg update, does that mean if I update PoP will play correctly automatically?

When config loads it says 249[FRAG] at the bottom?
Also is anyone having issues with Arc Rise Fantasia?
There is apparently a point during ARF where the game commonly crashes with some IOSes as base. If you installed using base 56 as suggested in the tutorial, then you should be good.Amon37 said:Upgraded to 249rev 20 and newest non-beta usb config.

Yep followed the tutorial and tried other games on the hdd and they are fine so it's something limited to ARF and I've read about the freezing but I'm past that point in the game.Clipper said:There is apparently a point during ARF where the game commonly crashes with some IOSes as base. I would like to echo this sentiment. Using the GAF theme with the cfg loader is too awesome, as is the ability to put all my games on my USB HDD and leave them nicely on my shelf.schennmu said:So I've gone through the tutorials today and everything works like a charm!
Many thanks to the people involved. Probably radioheadrule83 and Clipper.

any advice?

Now that the HBC update is out, you could just update to 4.3 via Nintendo's installer and see if that fixes things, but I seriously doubt it would have any effect.
Yes, the new HBC survives the 4.3 update. You would then need to reinstall IOS249, IOS222 and IOS223.jufonuk said:I have installed a new home brew channel update it has given it a new skin, this auto update message came this week so done it, will this allow me to install 4.3? and have the HBC still working? or do you have a link to what i need to do? many thanks

Before you even attempt it, I'd retry the shop update, though.
