Game Boy Micro <3 Thread

No but you can buy converters online that let you play old GB/GBC games. You just gotta look for them.
Are there actual converters or do you just mean flashcarts + emulation (or flashcart with GB/GBC dumping ability)?

It's been a long time since I've tried, but I did play GB stuff using a flashcart and emulator, most of the stuff I threw at it was fine, albeit with some glitching on the borders iirc. GBC stuff for the most part ran pretty slow though, it varied a lot depending on the game (there was a compatibility list somewhere). Basically GB should be solid, while GBC could be a crapshoot.

Ok Gaf, help out a fellow, recently converted Gameboy Micro owner.

Bought a silver Gameboy Micro from Ebay for £20 and now I'm looking for some game recommendations for it. Ideally I'm looking for RPG's, strategy and platformer games.

Currently I have:
Advance Wars
Phantasy Star Collection
Shining Force 2
Doom
and some shady Command and Conquer clone called mech something or other....

We should have a dedicated retro-console glamour photoshoot.

I found a sexy pic of an N64 controller and i really want to post it somewhere lol.
I'd love to see older systems get the GB micro treatment in front of the cameras :D

Shining Force II didn't come out on GBA, did it?

And are the Shining Soul games any good?

Bought a like new complete all black Micro off the 'bay yesterday. The seller is throwing in an 'EFA Linker II' but I have no idea what it's for. Can anyone enlighten me on what it is?

It's the GBA Jolly Roger flag..

On another note, I love my GBA Micro so much. Mmmm.. Marioı/Yoshi's Island, Sonic ADvance, Castlevania, Metroid - all I need.

Just curious. Are you talking hardware?
I am talking about hardware. There's an actual Game Boy "Bridge" Adapter that you plug into your Micro so that you can play GB/GBC games. But you can only play GB/GBC ROMs on it. I was very unclear with this, sorry. And after reading it again I think I misunderstood it the first time. I don't know if I'm allowed to link the website to here, though, since I don't want to get banned. But it's out there.

Well I looked it up and from what I read it doesn't work on the Micro. The problem is that it acts as a GB/GBC cart so the Micro can't do anything with it still.

As far as GBA takes on Diablo-like games, I think I preferred the two Lord of the Rings games (Two Towers & Return of the King), and Baldur's Gate Dark Alliance, over either Shining Soul game.

Just bought one used for $60 shipped from eBay. It has an ugly ass Magma faceplate though. I'm going to need to hunt down something better.

Astroboy is pretty outstanding, and it only gets better as your powers improve over the course of the game.

edit: Also picked up a flash GBA card so that I can finally rock Another World on my micro. I can't wait to see what that looks like XD

how long does the battery last for you guys? According to the nintendo customer site you should expect 10 hours average on the top brightness setting.... which is bull since I get around 7 hours for the second brightness setting.

i probably get abount 9 or 10 hours, and I'm always on the brightest setting, on my fami micro. my pink micro seems to get a bit less.

Picked up a Micro today and I love it. I just want another faceplate for it. Is there any websites you guys could link me to so I can purchase another?

DS Lite or Micro: which one has the brighter screen?
I think it was lite by a little at their brightest, I haven't compared in a few years. The Micro has better controls though, dpad is one of the best on anything ever, and the B-A button angle is much nicer on the hands/wrist than the DS layout.

Someone said the Nintendo store still sells them didn't they? They never made a huge variety (in the US at least) but it's a start. Anyone know availability of foreign faceplate colors?

Yes, they have faceplates but, you have to call the store and order over the phone

Congratulations, welcome to the heady heights of GBM pwnership. :D

Feels good, man.

FYI, you can have gamestops ship micros from other locations to your local one. I have a black system coming in from Tyler, TX, to Austin. $30 :D Should look really good with the black faceplate too, I am digging the solid colored ones lately.

May I ask where and how much you got that awesome Mother 3 one for?

$300

although, it retailed at $200, and was an import with free shipping, so I didn't have to pay too much extra for it. I still haven't played Earthbound before (although its up and coming on the backlog.) What sold me was the faux worn paint, I thought it was incredibly charming.

my nintendo faceplates came in today.

I'm looking for a Game Boy Micro! I won't settle for anything but near perfect condition, scratches on portables irritate the shit out of me heh.

I would LOVE to trade + cash for one, PM me if you want to part from yours!

I knew it was a good idea to buy a GBA Micro when I did, even though I already owned a DS Lite, a GBASP2, and a regular GBA. :P
What's the difference with an SP2 and is there a way to tell which version it is when looking on ebay for example? Thanks

SP2/SP+ has a much brighter backlit screen that's a step below DS Lite's screens. The original SP is front lit, and abysmal quality in comparison.

Looking at the units, the SP+ has a much darker screen when powered off compared to the lighter grey of the regular SP's screen. The box will also mention the brighter backlit screen.

The SP2 also had a different variety of colors (no silver for example).

The color saturation and brightness is equivalent to the DS Lite and GBA Micro.

Regular SPs have very washed out colors.
