Game Boy Micro <3 Thread

I've been looking to get a Micro and a Gameboy Advance SP with the brighter backlit screen, but I can't find one in decent condition for a good price.

If you're thinking about getting a GBA SP2, reconsider. Especially if you have a DS Lite. The DS Lite screen and GBA SP2 screen are virtually identical.

The DS's inability to remap the face buttons in GBA mode kills any other benefit with many games. A to jump and B to shoot/run is total balls with the DS's more diagonally situated A+B buttons.

Found a used copy of Ninja Five-O at Gamestop for $5! But it reaffirmed the belief that this system is not very good for action games...

any cool places out there where you can get gb micro faceplates at a reasonable price ?

guys are selling 1 faceplate for 11.99 on ebay, ridiculous.

Thing is my DS Lite kind of sucks balls right now. The right shoulder button doesn't work half of the time and the hinge is kind of fubar. I was considering getting a DSi or DSi XL but I was worried about the size and weight of the latter.

For the R button on your lite, lift it up a little and blow inside the gap between the button and system. Sometimes, dirt or lint gets stuck between the button and contact. This fixed the problem for me.

Nice ebay pickup for me today :D

Wow! Best GBM deal I've seen thus far! How much was it all?

I've really got to stay away from this thread. All of these photos and comments have me considering a micro, despite the fact that I shouldn't be buying anything other than the essentials these days. Damn it, GAF! :lol

Played some Mario Golf Advance Tour on my GBM the other day. Can't believe I missed this game the first time around. Really great golf game. Love the RPG elements.

Is drill dozer a good game? Found it for $15.
YESYEYSYEYSYEYSYESY!!!
One of the best original platformer in recent years, it's a bit on the easy side, but the satisfaction of the drill mechanics make up for it. Make sure you get an original version with rumble, not a pirate ebay version normal cart.

Seriously. I've had a GBA-SP, DS Lite and DSi in the past few years, and eventually sold them all from lack of use. Yet here I am in this thread wanting to take the plunge.

It was brand new shrink-wrapped in box with rumbly goodness. Micro is charging now.

EDIT: When will I know that the Micro is fully charged?

What is the difference between the Japanese versions and the US versions? Are they region free, and can they play US carts?

Both GBA and DS games are region-free. All games can be played on all systems.

The DSi is the first Nintendo Portable to employ region-locking.

Should be lit blue while charging, and then no light when fully charged.
Charging mine now to watch it happen. :p

Dayum, nice find. I'm guessing the seller isn't selling another package like this on ebay? I'd purchase that set in a second. :D

Oh by the way if I bought a Japanese Gameboy Micro, is there any language barrier I might have to overcome? Does the micro have a menu?

No menu. I'm pretty sure the only difference in the units is the text printed on the back of the system.

Got a cheap used Micro locally, quite dirty under the plate and the silver is starting to wear off from the buttons, but the plate itself is scratch-free and I'm very very pleased with the feeling of unit. I hope it will get me to play my GBA games more again (the SP was just too big to carry around).

Blue micro buddies. *High-five*

Welcome to the club.

And if you buy the famicom edition, you will get a Mario sprite on the back of the system, which is pretty awesome.

I know it's tough to imagine now, but prior to this gen a system would boot right up with whatever game was in it when you turned it on. Crazy times!

I was at a local trade center earlier today and they had a mint looking Micro for $50, I wanted to bite so bad on it but I swear everything they sell has to be hot. I always get a weird vibe about them :lol .

I know this thread gets it's share of looks and since I need to part, might as well give the enthusiasts first dibs:

letting my GBM famicom go (U.S. one, no box)
really good shape, I can PM a pic later today-at work now
screen is clean with no marks and faceplate and back have zero to no wear.

looking for $50 shipped comes with charger.

I just won an ebay auction for much more than this. I am so sad. :(

i know...i know... : / ...I got the dsi xl bug...

don't hate me...now I feel guilty..lol

and will probably keep it...since you did hook it up for me through all that bullcrap...

lol, no worries man. If I had the DSI XL bug I'd do the same thing. Do what you have to do, no worries :)

Ok, I'm going to ask here because this is my favorite gba thread: I want a (complete) pokemon game for my new micro. Which one should I get? Cost vs better game?

I should think Emerald would be your best bet, though I have to say Ruby fits the color of the Famicom system extremely well.
Care to explain why emerald? Btw I haven't played a pokemon since red/blue on the game boy. Recently have the itch to pick one up for the micro.

Ruby is the Pokemon I enjoyed most out of the GBA ones due to all the stuff to do in there. I never owned Emerald myself, but my friend did and it has even more stuff to do like an added battletower. I don't know the full list of changes, I just know it's the most complete version.

i already wrote some pages back but there are unsold brand new game boy micros in one of the big electronics retailers here in Bulgaria for 68$. i dunno how much a shipment to us or wherever cost if anybody wants a want I'll help him get one.

Ruby and Sapphire added a bit to the series, which FireRed and LeafGreen unfortunately omitted for the sake of accuracy. FireRed will always be my favorite GBA Pokémon, but I have to recommend Emerald if you're only going to get one. It takes Ruby and Sapphire and combines them, plus adds in the better font and a couple other things from FR/LG.
