Game of Thrones star cast in lead role in Interview with The Vampire remake.

This is some interesting casting. Louis was a Frenchman born in the 1700's and then emigrated to New Orleans where he became a plantation owner with slaves. That would be brave to have a black slave owner on the big screen. Do you think they'll change his origin?

Absolutely loved the original movie and I'm too surprised about the casting choice. A Frenchman plantation owner in New Orleans who's supposedly black himself?

Do we honestly think that there weren’t black slave owners? It’s fine to cast him in this role. He’s a great actor, and hopefully the movie will live up to the source material.

Didn't see the need for this because I know how the thread is going to go and quickly be derailed due to who they cast.
For most roles, I legitimately don't care when they race swap. This one however is interesting just because of the slave owner aspect. I'm really curious if they'll alter the origin or not. I think it would be incredible if they didn't.

I normally don't care about the race of a character but in the books she goes out of her way to describe the appearance of the characters so changing it so much just feels wrong. More than that I thought he was a really shitty actor on GoT so this is going to be a disaster.

greyworm never seemed like a big deal character to me

he seemed like a rookie but was presented as someone you dont mess with and his acting wasn't all that as with most GOT actors imo

idk maybe he will shine in this but im expecting mediocrity with an iconic name slapped on it

Sounds like fan fiction.

Watching got again for 10th time. All I can say is ... who?

Oh grey worm... yeah that doesn't inspire me. Not blaming the actor but he played a block of wood.

The original is the best vampire movie ever made. Has probably some of the most aggressively blockbuster casting ever with Cruise Missile, Brad Pitt, Antonio Banderas, Christian Slater and Kirsten Dunst. It will not ever be topped.

But I'm fine with them trying something new out. Probably better to try slightly different casting than be a subpar imitation of the original. Hopefully they actually make a Vampire Lestat film instead of skipping to book 3.

Lestat is the main casting Im interested in seeing.

WAIT WHAT.

Why the fuck are they even rebooting/re-adapting this? Was the film not great on it's own?

Ah whatever, I should stop being surprised and just accept that they'll reboot anything as long as it makes a quick buck.

Ugh why remaking a classic like that?!

Also lol at grayworm actor being protagonist of anything more than a tv spot for a diuretic product...
Next what? Remake of misery with The queen of dragons...

I'm pretty sure. Black slave owners were a thing. It's not something that people like to bring up for... reasons.

Those same reasons that majority of black slaves werent captured Roots style but willingly sold to the Europeans for whatever tat they were selling.

He's in the new series of Doctor Who as well. Probably another guest that would make a better Doctor then Dr Karen.

Did this need a remake, it's been a while but it doesn't seem to me like the movie had anything that obviously dates it. And I remember it being pretty good as is.

Brad Pitt has since shown some range, but his absolutely wooden portrayal of Louis remains the worst part of the original movie. This new dude could trip and fall over the bar set for the role.
I'm more interested in the casting for Lestat. I always enjoyed Tom's over the top performance, that we never got a the follow up with him was a major bummer.

I disagree. Pitt's depiction of Louis accurately portrayed the character well, as a tortured husk of a soulless servant, i saw it several times in the film.

Also, as much as we all loved Tom's performance as Lestat, it is a blessing that we did not get 'Lestat, The Vampire' the movie, because it would have been a goddamn train wreck, much like this new series.
