There are some great stores between 130th-140th street on the East Side of Manhattan. You can also find a few in the South Bronx, and right near the Ferry Terminal in Stated Island.

Though I will agree, I can't say that I'd recommend that a tourist go to either the South Bronx or 130th-140th sts... For obvious reasons :lol. The area around the Manhattan Mall has a couple of stores, including the much vaunted (though imo, overhyped) Game Express.

There's also Chinatown. It's got a ton of shops.

Do a search and you'll find at least one thread or two on the subject. Though on Sunday evening, most shops will be closed.

You want the guy murdered? WTF is wrong with you? :|

Like CK says, although the Bronx has some great "Mom and Pop" gamestores, I don't think the average tourist can handle the neighborhoods that house them. With that said, I'd recommend Game Express on West 33rd street (If I'm not mistaken). Also, if you need some import items, I'd recommend J and L on Elizabeth Street in Chinatown. Also try EVo, which is hidden across the street from J and L, on the lower level of a very small Chinese mall.

If vintage games are your thing, I'd reluctantly recommend Multimedia 1.0 on St. Marks. Again, I wouldn't recommend that the average tourist scour the Bronx looking for games, but if you think you have the intestinal fortitude to do so, check out Fordham Road. They have quite a few shops.

Not so much rare but overpriced.

Exactly. It's true that they may carry some items that are unavailble at your local Gamestop or EB Games. The problem is that they are aware of this fact, so they feel justified in charging double the value of certain items. Especially the few Neo-Geo carts that they have in their possession.

I'll be in midtown next week for a few days too.

Tell me about Game Express?

They suck, and they are the most over priced bitches in the city.

There used to be an awesome import shop on 5th ave and 39th st, called User-Side, but they went out of business. :(
