Gamecrazy sell on all "gray plastic" games

Yesterday I was looking through the local stores SNES games (more on that later) and the manager comes over to tell me that in about 5 days they are going to have a sale on all of the cartridges in the store - 3 for $15. This includes NES, SNES, Gameboy (dunno about advance), N64, and Genesis. Probably Game Gear as well, if they have any.

I found Romance of the Three Kingdoms 2 & 3, The New Tetris, E.V.O., Mario RPG, and Lufia as well as a few others. Most all of these games are $20 so three for $15 would be a steal.

bloody hell...I knew something was wrong with the title but I couldn't see it for the life of me before I hit "submit" and now that large misuse of "sell" vs. "sale" is killing me.

and it will be nice, if the games are still there.

and yeah, I know Game Gear and Genesis aren't gray but that's what he called it - a "gray sale."

What the hell is this store and why are there none near me?

about 6 years ago I picked up Phantasy Star 2 and 4, Shinobi and Shinobi III, Toe Jam and Earl, and Aerobiz Supersonic (for Genny obviously) for $1 each from a local rental store, God bless the lack of gamers in Bismarck, ND :)

Do you know what day this is starting for sure and if all stores are doing it? I'll stop by the one in my area and get all the SNES games I haven't gotten to yet.

For those that don't have gamecrazy you may see if you have a gamerush (blockbusters equivalent) all their prices on those games is 99 cents even on the rare stuff.

The sale definetely starts tommorrow (Thursday). Old news on CAG. I don't live within 4 hours of a GC, and everyone who does seems to say all the employees are hoarding all the really good games, which is exactly what I would do if I worked there.

I guess I'll stop by there on Friday. They had some SNES games I was interested in last time I was there, but they were too expensive.

i guess i might hit a couple local gamecrazies. don't remember seeing much that i still need, but i wouldn't mind some $5 paper mario.

Just back from one. Once you buy over 3 it's $5 a piece just so you know. Unfortunately the worker bought up most of the PS1 RPGs like Lunar. I sold a bunch of old 64 games awhile back so picked up Mario Kart 64, Smash Bros, Zelda: MM, Xenogears, and one I was really surprised they had, Shining Force 2. Originally $125 -> $25.

I am freakin' ecstatic. I just picked up probably $2000 or $3000 worth of games for about $500 from this sale. I've always believed in, uh, "good collector karma" too, so I only bought what I needed and one copy of each even though I picked up over 100 games.

SO... if you live near Old Bridge, NJ, I picked the Game Boy, PS1 and SNES sections pretty clean, but there are still some killer N64 games there for $5 each. Paper Mario, Starcraft 64, all the Crusins', all the Mario titles, Ogre Battle, etc.

I just got back from the shop, and picked up a nice mini-haul:

GEN Pirates! Gold
NES Destiny of an Emperor
N64 Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon

Their selection wasn't too hot, but I made out well, considering. Anybody know how to remove rental stickers from carts?

Fuckbeans. If I had known you didn't have to buy 3 at a time, I would've picked up Secret of Evermore.

Oh well. Bought Lunar 2:EBC, Phantasy Star II, and Shining Force II. I can't believe I paid with a 20 dollar bill for all of those. Fucking insanity.

How could anyone spend $500 on old games? Still a steal though. Just wondering though; are you gonna play them or sell them? If you're selling them that makes a lot more sense to me.

the one i went to isn't starting the sale until may 1st. didn't see anything i wanted anyway. there's another nearby. might try it later.

Scored:
Little Nemo Dream Master
Magical adventure starring mickey mouse
Yoshi's Island Super Mario 2 *hot shit great game*
Kirby's Dream land 3
Kirby 64
Mario tennis 64

passed because I already owned: Paper mario
Passed because GC version is superior: Harvest moon

Was hoping to see a super metroid. Couldn't remember what SNES Bass fishing game was the best so I didn't get those either. anybody got any insight on that?

EDIT: Oh yeah, the helpful employee was saying how he was going to pick up the mario party games since they never drop in price, when the discussion turned to the persistent resale value you on mario games in general he told me:
"Yeah thats why its crazy that Nintendo is giving him up"
me: "really?" *inquisitive*
"Yeah they might give him to xbox for the next system because they don't want to have the same old young image for revolution"
:lol

MY FINAL HAUL:

Link's Awakening DX: $14.99

Resident Evil 2 (N64): $14.99

Kirby's Adventure: $9.99

Phantasy Star II: $19.99
Shining Force II: $29.99

Lunar 2: Eternal Blue Complete: $24.99

Kirby Superstar: $24.99
Kirby's Dreamland 3: $24.99
SECRET OF MANA: $39.99

Total w/ tax = $48.72

Total w/o deal w/ tax: $221.82

For SoCal residents:

La Verne still has/had Secret of Evermore.
There are a few Vagrant Story copies in Baldwin Park.
There's Shining Force II and Lufia (the first one) in Duarte.

And that's all I can think of. Lufia II and OB64 were picked up before I got to the West Covina store.

Hopefully their head office will send them more games. :D When Gamestop was getting rid of their SNES games, all of a sudden there were copies of Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy 2 (IV), Lufia II, Secret of Mana, and other rarities.

Aw shit. Did you pick up EVERYTHING that was good, or were there extra copies of stuff?

I didn't pick up multiples of anything, or stuff I already owned. I got 90% of that stuff from the Lakewood store, so check that one out ASAP.

There's at least one more copy of Contra 3, Mario Party 3, Mario Kart 64, Starfox 64, Clay Fighter 2, and DKC2.

A friend of mine scored a stickered up copy of Majora's Mask (non-collectors edition) at the GameCrazy sale. He's interested in anyone wanting to trade it for something else they may or may not have purchased at GameCrazy's sale. You can contact him at Bucchabesu@gmail.com .

He will also take manpr0n.

Thank you.

My haul:

Secret of Mana - SNES
Super Mario RPG - SNES
Final Fantasy II - SNES
Super Mario All-Stars - SNES
Legend of Mana - PS1 (disc only but works great, so w00t)
CastleVania II - GB

Worth the trip. :)

Wow, good haul.

Man. West Covina's a fucking cocktease. Said they have Lufia II, Chrono Trigger, and Secret of Evermore, but they DON'T.

They still have Final Fantasy VI for the SNES though, if anyone wants to pick it up. I suggest you hurry.

This further proves that GameCrazy kicks ass.

While their prices might be somewhat higher than the competition, GameCrazy has an amazing selection. New games, new systems, old games, old systems, used games, used systems, they have it all. I love it.

And scola, you are an IDIOT for passing up Harvest Moon 64.

If anyone finds extra copies of Lunar:SSSC or Lunar:EBC let me know, I'm trying to replace my stolen copies.
