Great issue. Has the postmortem this month of RE4 by Yoshiaki Hirabayashi, who was the lead real-time cinematics director for the game. Ton of interesting info.

Explains why Nintendo isn't higher?

I'm surprised Microsoft Game Studios is so high, especially considering these categories: annual turnover, number of releases and average review scores.

You'd think their astronomical losses would shoot 'em in the foot right off the bat, and it's not as if they release that many titles each year, nor are many of 'em very good. I've no idea how they determine quality of producers though, and I have no frakkin' idea what the hell 'reliability of milestone payments' means.

I guess they pay their employees in gold bullion. No other explanation really. :)

Head over to gamerankings and check how the 2005 & 2004 MGS releases rank. You'd be surprised I guess. Also, I'm pretty sure that MS makes money off those releases, it's the hardware they're losing money on ...

They do have very high pay. Quality of producers is based on a confidential survey that is filled out every year online by developers. MS Studios has a higher avg. review score than both Sony and Nintendo if you figure in all of their releases.
