Gamer breaks neck wearing VR headset

Man breaks neck by turning his head.

I suspect there's some other underlying issue.

Their neck must've been really thin to break wearing a VR headset. Any helmet could've done the same, with all the weight and all...

probably one of the vrchat crazies, he just didn't want to tell the doctors he really fell off a pole or something.

What the fuck was he doing in vr to cause such stress?

Anyway, I did hurt my hand a few times punching my wardrobe while trying to kill a zombie in Walking Dead S&S.

repetitive stress issues are real.

My left hand broke off at the wrist decades ago due to chronic masturbation
So all the time I masturbated (weird I can only use one hand the other doesn't work well) don't reach the chronic level?

I see I need to setup up my masturbation to reach the breaking level.

less weight probably causes less stress aswell, maybe get some wrist weights to get yourself into the weight division P pqueue runs in.

still an isolated situation for now [...] Hopefully not a problem going forward
You honestly believe this could actually become widespread? Lol. What Kotaku-type weirdo framing, on an enthusiast gaming forum at that. Don't forget to warn Doom and Pokemon make kids satanists and GTA gets them into drugs. Necks are strong, it's not a VR kit's weight that will break one.

I sprained my neck button mashing in a track & field type game (DecAthlete/Athlete Kings on Saturn, possibly the demo) and had to wear a collar when I was 13. Just like people's dumb Wii shenanigans you cite it wasn't a game/gamepad/console safety issue then either, just me being dumb 🤷‍♂️

Never said it could become widespread, just that it's something to think about when playing a VR game. Especially if said game has sporadic movements in it.

You really need to get that sand outta your vagina lol. It literally has a Dr in the article explaining how it could happen to anyone. Nobody is trying to shit on VR smh.

I don't know about repetitive stress but I can easily see someone falling, bending and whacking their head, or twisting and getting yanked by the cord. Hitting real world stuff while in VR is a totally unexpected impact and catches you (obviously) totally by surprise without any protective tensing up.

People gotta take care of their bodies. Can't just sit around all day watching TV or playing games. Your body will literally fall apart, especially once you get to your late 20s, things go downhill fast if you aren't proactive.

Gotta get up, have a walk or a hike, stretch, drink water, etc. This dude needs to take a break, or if he's sitting, use a billow for some neck support. I do that when I play VR games.

I remember feeling like my brain was scrambled after doing stupid motion control shaking of dualshock controllers in LocoRoco Cocoreccho (ps3).

Just be careful you don't break the wrong thing bruv.
