Games Convention 2005: Revolution Teasing Continues

The answer, "Please don't ask us. Because we will always expand the definition of gaming." Finally Revolution appeared with only the numbers 2006 -- its release year -- painted over it.

Fakesch said, "In the console market, beginning in 2006 our wi-fi capable flagship Revolution will set new landmarks. By 'expanding the definition of gaming' we don't only mean an advance towards new limits of gaming, but also to new potential players. We want to win over new people and inspire them, those who have never thought about taking a controller into their hands -- more girls, young women, adults, and also elderly players. Certainly in the process we won't neglect the fan community

Later during the conference Nintendo brought up Revolution again, noting that it will be the next big thing and, again, very much wi-fi enabled. It seems the company can't not talk about wi-fi now that it's got the ball rolling. Interestingly, Fakesch said Revolution will have "a large number of novelties." The "novelties" translation, we speculate, may have actually referred to add-on services or peripherals. When asked for more information, he said, "The only thing I can tell you is that very soon there will be important news about Revolution."

Ending the Revolution topics he finished by saying, "We're all wondering what the Revolution controller will look like, but I think right now we should focus on discussing our current products."

The more news that comes out about the 360 and the ps3 concerning price and games, the more attractive Revolution looks. I hope for my curiousity's sake that Nintendo takes advantage of the recent 360 news to release news of their own. It would serve as a nice contrast.

"You're paying less, because you're getting less. Right up front!"

"ITS'A GBA FOR A HUNDRED GOLD COINS! ITS'A ME, A GIANT RIP OFF!"

Hopefully the speculation will be put to rest soon

100 bucks for an adapter isn't better.
dollar for dollar, the $20 faceplate is the biggest rip-off. <$1 cost to MS. They can probably stamp out 1000 standard white faceplates in an hour.

It's better than paying 100 dollars for a wifi adapter when wifi is built into all four other next gen consoles/handhelds.

Nintendo is really the master of having a speech about nothing. it's like, "we have a speech about revolution, but watch out for our next speech for some information"

Oh well, atleast the console is confirmed 2006.

Well, they are being pressed for info they don't feel like giving out for whatever reason. So they have to mention Revolution to some degree....but they really don't have anything they want to say yet.

So ya, it looks them being stupid, but in reality they are just under public pressure to release information they don't want to yet.

It's also better than paying to play online, so has MS said what it'll cost per year to play online? I'm sure it'll be interesting.

I like how Matt takes the elderly comment to the extreme. Given that all the types of people listed don't really play games, they very likely might like to play the same type of games, i.e. stuff like Nintendogs, Animal Crossing, etc. It doesn't mean that we're going to be seeing games about dentures or anything.
