Games MIA in Canada

Just wondering if anyone else knows of games that don't appear to have made the jump north of the border...

For example, I haven't seen Guitar Hero anywhere, nor have I seen (for the DS) Lost in Blue or Trauma Center. I'm sure there are more... anyone?

Weird, I've seen all three. Where have you looked? Then again, I've seen them at local stores that might have other distribution sources than the canadian chains.

I'm talking about EB/Best Buy/Future Shop/Wal-Mart and down on the chain...

To be fair, I haven't bugged anyone about the two DS titles, but I've been to a few EBs (like six or seven, in a couple of different cities) and taken a look because I just want to check out the boxes, and haven't seen them. Went to the local "overpriced but gets everything" game store today, didn't see a trace of them.

Maybe I'd have done well to pester them about the games, but they'd be cheaper on EBay.

Seen all three, move to a better city

I was in Vancouver and didn't see them. Either I was looking at the wrong places or you must be referring to Montreal, which is debatable :)

www.videogamesplus.ca is your friend :)
They ship everywhere too for like 2 bucks. Got Trauma Center way before my local EB had it. My Futureshop still has no Lost in Blue, Phoenix Wright, or Trauma Center. Garbage selection.

I was just at the Future Shop on Brodway a few days ago and they have Trauma Center.

Really? Doesn't show up at all on their website and I haven't seen it anywhere... of course I didn't go to that store while I was out there.. :/

Either way, it's slightly annoying. Don't know if I'd get Lost in Blue, but for the right price I'd probably pick up Trauma Center and Guitar Hero... but that entails seeing them first.

I got Lost in Blue and Trauma Center at EB in New Brunswick. Thing is, they only get 2 copies of obscure DS games, so if you don't preorder, you're screwed. When I picked up my Phoenix Wright preorder, I was told by the clerk that someone offered him 20 bucks to sell my copy to him. :lol

You oughta pre-order if you want something. Canada always gets minimum stock unless its a bonafide hit.

I posted the exact same thing a few weeks back looking for these same 3 games in Vancouver. Someone suggested www.amazon.ca

So I ordered all 3, got them quickly and actually saved a bunch. Rather than the typical $49 each they priced as below. Savings of about $55.

BTW, I ordered all 3 and they are all fun but I'd order them in the order below.

Phoenix Wright CDN$ 31.99
Trauma Center CDN$ 34.99
Lost in Blue CDN$ 27.99

Someone gets it!! Props!!

I've been visiting VGP since 1991, that's why I keep telling everyone to shop with them. I don't have any vested interest in anyone actually buying anything from them, but it helps to support the "little" guy.

Why I want you to support VGP:

1. They get the titles in before EB/FutureShop/WalMart/Best Buy;

2. They offer great trade-in prices;

3. Their used game prices are significantly lower than EB's bullshit $5 less than new;

4. They never inflate prices for the day or two that they have the title before anyone else like my local EB's do.

Support the little guy. Support a fully owned and operated Canadian company. If you buy used then there is absolutely no reason at all to go to EB!

Example:

Psychonauts XBX

EB = $55.99
VGP = $40.00

Only thing is that there website isn't really updated for the preplayed stuff. But, drop them an email for anything you need.

Hell, they've even started to import some titles like Jump Super Stars DS and Winning Eleven PSP.

Much better then VGP. :)

The thing is, if you want upcoming games right away, VGP is great. Amazon.ca usually delays shipment by one week, and if prices aren't over $39 bucks, there is no free shipping. (which takes a lot longer as well)

So if you want hard to find games as quick as possible on release date, go with VGP. If you're willing to wait for up to 2 weeks to save 5 to 10 bucks, go with amazon.

I'd personally go with Amazon.ca and get older games for cheaper, but for new releases it's VGP. :)

No one has Stubbs the Zombie in Canada. I've even emailed Wideload games about it.

Amazon.ca has the PC and Mac version on their site but that's it.

I have Lost In Blue in my Ebgames (Montreal). We will also receive Guitar Hero on the 16th of November (well, that may mean 17 or 18th)
I bought Trauma Center at gamebuzz. Eb doesn't carry it (fuck Atlus and their "no french sleeves")

I walked into this store and picked up Spikeout as if it was normal. And they still had several copies leftover. Hell, I even a used version of Tengen Tetris for 50 bucks. :lol So yeah, they're solid choice. Street stores in general almost always have wider selections, since it's their specialty.

VGP gets their games early.. but how long until they ship and you receive?

I don't know. I live near their b&m store, so I don't buy online.

Those Amazon prices are great, though. I can totally understand going with them. I'm just wondering what the shipping cost would be if I got a game that is less than the $39 free shipping deal.

It's more then the 2$ I pay per game at VGP. Amazon.ca is great if you take advantage of the free shipping and can wait to get your games. If you need them asap and can't find them in stores VGP.ca is the way to go IMO.
