Games that would kick ass with the Revolution controller

I think many people are just not grasping how cool this will be, so I will lay it out a bit.

1. Puzzle games- Super Monkeyball. No need to explain this one. use the motion sensing controller to manipulate monkeys to their ultimate doom!

2. Adventure/Roleplaying games. Games like Zelda or Oblivion! Where you can control your sword and shield manually. =)

3. Sports Games.
* Football- Add a whole new dimension to quarterbacking by manually aiming and controlling how near or far a ball is thrown by the force you use with the controller in a "snap" motion.

* Golf- Manipulate the controller like a golf club! Awesome!=P

* Tennis- Controller = racket

* Boxing- Duel Wielding these babies will bring fight night to a whole new level!

* fishing- use the wand as the pole and the analog stick attachment as the reel! =P

etc. etc..

4. Racing Games- Rotate the controller to the horizontal postional and use like a steering wheel.

5. Flight Games- Imagine games like Pilotwings where you can use the stick for pitch, yaw etc.. like a realtime flightstick.

6. FPS- Perhaps one of the most exciting genre's to use this controller with IMO. This will breathe new life into the genre as far as I'm concerned.

7. Light Gun Games: House of the Dead, Time Crisis etc.. The controller is perfect for these types of games (especially with the rumble feature to simulate "kickback". Awesome.

8. Platformers: Analog stick to run around. Motion Controller to grab, jump, perform various moves etc...

I can go on and on really.. Why are some of you having such a hard time grasping the possibilities? This is the best thing to happen to console gaming in years IMO. :)

Factor5 Star Wars game where the main focus is Lightsaber fights.

I'm also wondering if it can some how be used to mimic a bow-and-arrow.

There could be minigames where you have to move the controller back and forth to mimic cutting down a tree with a saw. :D

these are all could be's :)

It's true. But at least Nintendo has the balls to go for it. Maybe the technology is cheap enough and finally at a point where it can finally be effective for gaming.

Rail shooters. Panzer Dragoon Orta, Rez.

Yeah, Rez is the one I'd see as the best fit. Hopefully a decent Starfox game as well, assuming the double teaming of Namco & Rare haven't left that IP as radioactive.

I would think anything involving swordplay. Being able to actually duel freely instead of relying on attack animations would be sick.

Golf games should also benefit from this. Still I cannot figure out soccer games :-/

A new Punch Out should be in the works, really. Having two pads one in each hand is something every human person should prove. please Nintendo, let us prove it!

Pilotwings for the win, of course :)

Perhaps a foot strap?

a first-person swordfighting game could be neat...as long as the sword could pass through all objects. otherwise you'd have the in-game sword deflecting off something while the player continues his swing, breaking synchronization of controller and game. a lightsaber game would work, as long as the lightsabers couldn't clash with each other.

nights seems likely. actually, didn't naka want to do a nights sequel with a tilt sensor on saturn or dreamcast? iirc that's what the removable cord on the nights controller was for -- you would've stuck the tilt sensor in between.

Honestly, I want to see what Mizuguchi can do with the revolution. Imagine some of the insane stuff he can implement with the freestyle 3D movement.

Rhyme/Puzzle games will never be the same.

i have got one for you resident eveil 5. now ltet me explain. in resident evil 4 few buttons were used, practically the a button was the main button. now think of it on the rev

the rev remote with the anolog stick connnected. move leon or whatever character with the anology stick. to aim hold Z1 down on the anaology and then point an aim at the different parts with the remote using the b trigger. if you want to use the knife, use the z2 trigger and swing an slash with the remote. you can either use the d pad of a button to go to the inventory and change you weapoms. man this will be so sweet.

come to think of it i haven't thought about rev graphics, since i saw the controller last night

Has anyone actually used that gyroscope controler for racing games?...yeah...its aweful.

Why? You can use the remote but hold it sideways. Move the pad just like you would a steering wheel, use the small 'a' 'b' buttons for acceleration and brakes, and use the d pad for shifting.

Or you can use the analog control and aceleration/break. The analog-add on takes care of everything needed in a racer considering that it has two triggers and a stick. The remote itself can be used for drifting, slides, and turns.

Racing is even better with the revolution.

On the topic of sword-based games, like Zelda, I don't think the controller (sword) having to deflect off something is really a problem.

Think about past Zelda games. There hasn't really been an instance where swords clashed in the game or where the sword was deflected. (Only rare instances when Link would hit a wall/rock/shield). All other times the sword would pass right through an enemy with no problem. So this type of application could work perfectly for Zelda.

I'm not really sure though how they would handle the 'kickback' effect from hitting a wall/shield though. Maybe a sharp rumble and a kickback on screen?

I was gonna say baseball game for the pitching and hitting, but all it will do is give you the timing, not the aiming. So even that would be nothing more than a gimmick....

I'm sure that controller was awesome too. *sarcasm*

Nintendo will make sure it's perfected before releasing the unit. Much like they did with wireless. I remember wireless sucked quite a bit for the most part until the wavebird showed up. :)

What, no one mentions Castlevania yet? Straight up whip control! B-Trigger to grapple! Mmmmm.

yeah i can i magine, using the whip with an arm flickon one enemy, then using it on another on your left then pressing the A button with the arm flick to wrap the whip on an enmey, flick the controller backwards again, it drags the enemy towards you and you can the use a combinationof close attack on the enemy with the b or z trigger buttons

sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeet

some good suggestions.

i think nintendogs.

imagine using the controller to pat the dog, and as a brush to groom it. with a slight rumble when you're in contact with the dog.

Mario Party games

yes, technology spawned from shitty chinese pirate games vs new techonlogy on a real console.

All that extra processing powers gotta go somewhere!

and yeah this would make taking care of your nintendog a lot more interesting.

I think a strong rumble the instant the sword contacts the object/wall/enemy will represent the clash of your weapon really well. It works fine for a regular controller, so it should work much better with the remote.

Animal crossing-

Fishing, chopping down trees, digging up fossils, catching insects, pattern design.

Would also be great for tagging in a Jet Grind Radio game.

I was dissapointed at first, but it's growing on me. I think it could be very awesome, in fact (if done right). My wife will probably love it as well.

FOR THE 3 CONSOLE FUTURE... HURRAH!

Wrong! The control could sense the power of your throw by the degree of "snap" you give the controller. It could also judge how straight or off center your throw is when you make the throw motion. You could also you hand gestures in the snap to simulate different types of throws. Same thing with swinging the bat. Depending on the angle timing and power of the snap motion you are using will determine the type of hit you make.

i think i'd actually care about revolution if that cvg rumor about a gyroscopic controller that could create resistance to being turned was true. remember the big fuss about force feedback joysticks 8 or 9 years ago? they sounded so cool.

I was definitely thinking about Mario Tennis; plus, folks, you don't have to literally swing the thing. In the case of Mario Tennis, you could do small flicks down for drop shots, Flicks up for Lobs, and then straight shots (Small and Large) to control power as you swing. If they could find some way to do slice and topspin as well, that would be great, but you could also use the triggers on the analog attachment to control what kind of shot you hit.

Also: Beach Volleyball would work in the same way. Use the B Trigger to jump and then use the controller itself to swing.
