Games that you wish never ended

I recently finished Chrono Cross and as soon as I finished it I was dissapointed that it was over. I felt like they could continue the story, but mainly I wish i could've just kept playing through the game and have it never end. Anyone else have that happen to them as well?

Resident Evil 4... I would have kept playing for another 20 hours if the levels kept changing....

Tetris.

But seriously. pretty much any of my top 10 games of all time.

Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, Metroid Prime ,FFVIII, RE4, Earthbound, Super Mario RPG, Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, Paper Mario, A Link to the Past, Skies of Arcadia...

(Yes, I'm a Mario and Zelda whore, in case you haven't noticed)

Every good rpg. I feel so sad after knowing the characters that I won't see them again :( Sometimes I just replay the game but it's still sad :(

It's definitely a love-it-or-hate-it series, but I've gotta say Shenmue, and especially Shenmue 2. I could stay in that universe for months, easily.

Mark of Kri
GTA:SA (As in, more land to explore and higher variety of people, not necessarily missions in the same area)
Halo 2 (If only there were really were more levels after that cutscene...)

That's all that I can think of right now...

Chrono Cross, yes, but Grandia II ended so abruptly that I had a much more direct reason to want to keep playing..

I read the title as "Game that you wish were never created" for some reason. Damn, I'm much better at making topics.

Also, Knights of the Old Republic and Jade Empire.

I'm the same way. I'll often get close to the end of a good RPG, covince myself that I should have a more balanced character, and restart. It is pathetic. :P

As soon as I saw the topic of this thread the first game that came to my mind was Chrono Cross...It was a great game while it lasted, and there are so many multiple endings that its worth beating a few times

Skies of Arcadia.

I enjoyed playing it all the way through the end... also played every other day to make it longer... I didn't want it to end.

Well the problem is you play a game like the ones listed.

You beat it....and your satisfied.

Then your next game is ready to play...

That game is Mace Griffon Bounty Hunter....

You sit in the corner and cry that your old game ended while cutting your wrists.

Ocarina of Time, for sure...I was very upset that it was over. But damn, that final boss fight was awesome...

(EDIT)
Same thing for Wind Waker.

I'm not expecting it to be beyond belief different. Gives me a good reason to play the game again though. Will probably get it on PC this time around and give my Radeon X800 some good use finally.

AND if there is no fucking dragon this time I will be pissed.

Metal Gear Solid 2.

I wanted this game to end as quick as possible towards the end.

MGS3 however....the ending could have gone on for 7 years and I would have had goosebumps the whole time.

Morrowind. I spent two summers on this game. Traveled all over the world. Tackled every mission I could find. And I still want more.

Out of everyone who has posted in this thread...you should be shot first you crazy bastard.

I didn't think it was possible to beat that game.

Super Mario 64
Silent Hill 2
Banjo-Kazooie
Xenogears
FFVIII

These are the only games I can think of that saddened me to see end. Xenogears second disc is kind of where the feeling hit me. It was like they didn't have time to finish the game, which could have easily been another 50 hours.

that ending almost did go on for seven years...
you have to fight volgin soooo many times in a row. ugh.

Max Payne - I have never been so engulfed in a game story ever in my life, the damn game consumed me for 2 entire days (short game) and i cried for more!!!!

Donkey Kong Countrey - The first game i beat all by myself without any help or cheats and i still wish to this day it never ended

I am not picking only my favorite games of all time because most of them i felt like they needed to be complete or that they couldnt have been better if they were longer (FFVII comes to mind).

Oh shit, I completely forgot about Max Payne 2! Amazing game, great story, I LOVED that game. Too bad it had to be a weekend rental. Damn shame....Hopefully there's a next gen sequel!

I actually welcome a good ending and I'm tempted to say games like RE4 or OOT, but I think there can be too much of a good thing in many cases.

My answers

a) Fable - because there simply weren't enough missions

b) Halo 2 - WTFOMGBBQ ending

c) Shadowrun SNES - A highly underrated RPG/adventure hybrid. Could have used one or two more cityscapes. "We'll meet again in Shadowrun II" my ass!!

i was thinking about this question and realised, for me, the ending is a vital part of every great game i've played. it's the final reward, and as such completes the experience, although i must admit to a great deal of satisfaction wandering around the worlds of those games that allow you to [after you've defeated the final boss].

the only games i've played that i wished never ended would be those i enjoyed that didn't end, like animal crossing.

Despite the fact that its already been stated enough times, OoT.

Honestly could never get enough of it. Wish I could say the same about TWW...

So...you got your wish? AC basically ends when you're tired of it and begins again when someone else is introduced to the game. I just started my nephew's town. He's already sad that one of his neighbors moved away. :lol"

I think that would be a funny gag to place in a game.

Have one event after another that would end most other games (main character dies, world is saved, world is destroyed, person is saved, treasure is found, main villains are brought to justice/killed, etc.)
