Very good list. I pretty much agree with all of the choices, other than that I think Okami or Shadow of the Colossus should've been PS2 game of the show (I'm sure Black is right there with them, but I think the emphasis should be on games for the specific platform), and I think FEAR should've got PC GOTS (though Company of Heroes looks great, too! ).

You know what? Why the hell aren't any of these websites showing any footage of this game, if it is so good? Or better yet, what about ANY DS games? All Gamespot and IGN showed were trailers of them. Granted, they are still uploading everything, but if DS was the best console on the show floor as a lot of people said, shouldn't we see any of these games?

Was it playable at the show? It looked like an NES super mario bros. title with much needed additions like wall jumping. I'm psyched for it.

Ya it was playable. There were about 3 stations for single player, and 2 for multiplayer.

Actually, GameSpot and IGN and the sites that big should be done with E3 media. Other sites are still covering the show, but the live sites run through everything.

Sites didn't bother with a lot of ShakeyCam this year. Most game companies let you do direct feed wherever possible, and there was a lot of stuff done in advance, so the handheld stuff looked like shit in comparison and wasn't worth it, I guess. Some games, they should have for sure, but DS is really hard to get good film off of with its two screens, and I'm not sure what Nintendo's restrictions were this year on filming.

My guess is that they didn't want to take flack for choosing a trailer that had no real-time elements, so they seperated the categories to lessen the blow.

No, read their text. Same as "Best GS Live Interview" - it's just an advertisement for their HD video feature (which isn't really HD, btw - the only trailer that you could really term HD that I know that was released was that DOA4, the rest being just Gamespot's new high-standard widescreen format called "Gamespot HD" or whatever that is.)

I liked shakeycam videos of past E3s...I remember having hundrends and hundreds of megs worth of Mario Sunshine, Celda and Metroid videos in 2002.

Maybe it's nostalgia, but last year's monitors seemed BEAUTIFUL for ShakeyCam ... this year, I shot some for myself, and I just wasn't all that into it.

As far as the handhelds, remember that at E3 2004, all the systems were up on systems with replicating monitors, and bolted down for easy viewing. This year, publishers were emphasizing play, so most were on retail units or dev boxes, and most were not up on the screen, so it made for much tougher captures (especially when you have to get your hands and ass in the way to play the game.)
