My guess is that they were using the wifi function and based their figures around that.

I was already sold on the PSP some time ago but this vid completely sealed the deal. I might even take off work when it comes out now.

Wifi Ridge Racers looked awesome and the mpeg4 playback was nice.

Well, at least the guy made it clear they didn't really measure anything. His battery life estimation sentences had probably 10 'maybes' in them and he never even implied they measured anything, or even paid much attention to battery life..
