Gamespot: Mega Man X remake in development for PSP!

Goddamnit, now i actually have a reason to want a psp =(

I just pray more companies follow Capcom's lead.

I don't wanna throw down 250 dollars for a portable for a couple of games from one company, and then have the well dry up. Hopefully, the support keeps up for many years to come. I want a library of over 40 PSP games!

Haven't the Mega Man Zero games sold well on GBA?

Wouldn't it make sense to have this remake on DS or GBA?

Oh wait, this is Capcom...

This will sell great on PSP as long as it isn't $40.

Well, you have to realize that this is the kinda thing that Capcom does and has done for a long time. They're a japanese company that tends to root for the japanese underdog (until it looses them too much money, anyway)

First it was the Dreamcast, then it was the Gamecube, now it is the PSP. I'd imagine you'll see NDS ports in a years time. If anything, the stockholders will demand it.

Megaman is one of my favorite franchises and I'm very happy to see remakes that actually try to do things somewhat differently. Both Irregular Hunter X and Rockman Rockman will be mine.

On another note, I'd love to see the existing Megaman collection ported over to either the DS or the PSP as I'd like to play the original versions as well.

Dammit capcom. stop making me want to upgrade my firmware.

You don't need to upgrade your firmware to play new games. Just get fastloader and you're good to go. :) I got Bleach Heat The Soul 2 last week, which requires a 1.52 update, and with fastloader, I could skip the update and the load the UMD disc up by going through fastloader first. Works great. :D

Nah. They'll do as well as any other Mega Man title. Good, but not spectacularly.

I just can't imagine fans of the series (in the states) will have followed the franchise all the way to the PSP.

How has Megaman Legends done on the PSP in Japan?

Simply awesome. I've been waiting so long for an MMX remake. RR looks kinda fruity, but it might be good fun too.

GS got it wrong, according to Famitsu...

Rockman Rockman = Rockman 1 remake
Maverick Hunter X = Rockman X port

So if this is right, Capcom is porting MMX1 to a system with disc storage capacity similar to Gamecube, with MMX Collection about to be released? Holy ripoff, Batman. I know they'd have to adjust the games for the PSP's screen dimensions, but still.

Just like I thought! I thought it was odd to remake X1, and apparently so did Capcom. Seriously, the game doesn't need a remake. Throw in a few new modes, bosses, missions, and music remixes, and I'm set. Though, A rockman X port for the PSP? It has to have SOME upgrades. I don't see anybody paying full price for a SNES port on PS2(ish) hardware.

I'd guess the X1 port is a bit more than just the SNES game. It'll probably have added cinemas, an arranged soundtrack... maybe even bonus stuff like a level editor and or a help/hint system. Expect something more like the PSone ports of Rockman 1-6.

Do you have a link to the article? I'd like to read the exact wording myself, as everyone seems confused by it.

Johnnyram mentioned it on the forum. In the Famitsu article on Rockman Rockman, it specified that game being a Rockman 1 remake while Maverick Hunter X was specified as being a Rockman X1 port.

Oh, another Megaman port. And we are excited why? Oh it's on the PSP.
Shove it.

People are excited about REMAKES, not ports. Do you see anyone going crazy over Rockman Dash 1 & 2 or BofIII? Hell no. They are lazy PORTS.

Let me rephrase for your touchy ass.

Oh, another non-new, albeit slightly rearranged Megaman title. And we are excited why? Oh it's on the PSP.

Honestly, if they are redoing the graphics in this new 2.5d engine, why not create a new MM game for PSP? We've seen enough versions of the same old MM games already. A new game would be something to get excited over IMO. Capcom walks the finest line between ports and remakes.

Indeed.

Sorry but MMX does need a remake. The sprites are pretty ugly by today's santards and not every similiar to the latest X games, either. :P A straight port will not do.

I like it when people use the DS an an example like its suppose to change the fact that something sucks.

Thats like me going, "hey the Matrix 2 sucks", and someone going, o yah well the Titanic sucks. And Im like "So?"

I loved the original graphics.... bah, I guess I'll wait for pics.. :(

When it comes to Megaman, the games are pratically just revamped versions of the last game anyway, and X1 had some of the best bosses, levels and weapons of the series, its a good bit likely this remake could be better then a considerable amount of the X series as long as it gets a few improvements.

I agree that new titles are usually more interesting then remakes, but when it comes to megaman, which is just a recycling series anyway, and especially the tired X series, a remake is probably better then a sequal.

Don't put words in my mouth. I'm bashing this because it's yet another version of an old MM game. Even if the new GnG PSP game was a revamp I wouldn't give it the same hate because it hasn't been milked so much in recent years. I'm sick of 5 versions of the same MM Battle Network as well. I think this would be a golden opportunity for Capcom to make a new MM game in 2.5D not a damn revamp. A lack of good 2D games on PSP doesn't mean we have to just automatically drool over some half-baked attempt. So shove it.

I'm giving Capcom free passes on this one because they are making a new Ghouls & Ghosts. I never expected them to do this.

People aren't necessarily drooling over it because it's PSP either. The original MMX game is quite beloved, so the thought of remake was very exciting to many people. However, it's turned out to be a port. If you notice, the excitement has gone down after that...

That looks freaking HOT.

edit: Man the bosses look AWESOME, I thought they were concept art at first. :P

p.s. jarrod is dumb.

Wow, that actually looks great...especially the backgrounds. Only weird thing is that Megaman seems to stand out somewhat against the backgrounds...he looks too bright.
