His arm looks like that scene in Hollow Man where his skin's invisible and you can see the layer of muscle.

In the near future through scientific development in the area of stem cells, basketball players will be able to grow a secondary arm, whick will incase their already existing arm.

That dunk looks awesome
Sure does, would look better if he was actually hanging on the rim :D I also like the awesome EA sneakers! Seriously, it looks ok...it lack emotion, it lacks...something, i mean it just looks CG, which i guess is a good thing, but not in a sports game.

while these pics look good, they in NO WAY do this game in motion justice (which is jaw dropping).

Yeah, the game looks awesome in motion. Hopefully EA releases some HD videos of it soon like they did with Madden 360.

Yeah the sneakers are cool :D

Imagine how good a next-gen streetball game (NBA Street/NBA Ballers) will look with less than half the players/refs on screen??

*Swoons*

Yeah...both games look good in different ways.....

Overall, I would give a slight edge to 2K6 360 but Live 360 is also very good looking...

OK enough with all the details and texture already. If you STILL can't get the faces to show emotion then there's something very wrong. They don't even have to have a wide variety of emotions, either. Just show a struggle face, angry face, celebrating face, and the standard faces they're showing now.

Uhm, yes it is actually. Compare videos from both games, this looks noticeably better than 2k6.

Live 360- Looks like a videogame.

2k6- Makes you double take.

Not even a contest.

No it doesn't. Not even close.

I suggest you go watch the IGN videos (especially if you have insider) and you will absolutely change your mind. Live 06 is quite a bit better looking in those videos. While 2k6 has some serious issues (maybe they'll be fixed, but as of now, no way).

Here's a direct link to the videos. The Insider videos are the ones that will blow you away, so if there's any way you can watch them, do so. The other (smaller, free) video's are still impressive though...

i must say, Live looks good in motion but i feel 2K will get better, and will take it over before release.

that may be, but I'm just saying, as of now... it's Live; but I don't see how anything will top it, it has the most impressive graphics on x360 so far, bar none. those insider videos still take my breath away when i watch them, even now... after i've seen 'em 100 times.

i still have major issues with it though, that being the skating, floaty players (big turn off for me). but graphically, it has no equal.

I've seen the same vids, what makes it for you? I don't deny it looks great but it has that "CGI" look to it, which again is not entirely a bad thing, but not a photorealistic look like NBA 2k6 seems to have...idk, maybe it's just me.

I've seen the videos and it doesnt impress me one bit.

Now answer this question and I expect a "yes"

When you saw 2k6 for the 1st time with the stephon pic, did you do a double take?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now when you saw Live for the 1st time, did you do a double take? And im not talking about that Blown up D-Wade pic. I expect a "no" from this.

If you can honestly say 2k6 doesnt look photorealistic and better looking than Live, i cant help you anymore....

Thing is 2K looks retarded in gameplay movies, the cloth physics are overexaggerated garbage.

Chances are though, both games will suck ass and it won't matter. :P

The gameplay shots for 2k6 aren't traditional playing angles. Its hard to tell which looks better during gameplay but Ill give Live the nod for now.

However Im glad 2K6 is pushing the envelope and trying to go all out. It doesnt look bad.

Both of them look bad in different ways.

I agree with this, and I think it's because of the colours they chose for the players' skins.
To illustrate this, I've cropped 2 pics, one from each game, and cut of their heads, since I think the players faces kill the illusion of reality in both of these games...

So what do you think? I think you have to take a second look at NBA 2k6 to realize it's not real, and on NBA Live you can just tell it's a CG image...

Maybe it just me but the skin in the 2k6 player has depth to it. It seems to have that glow that real skin has to it, like there is blood flowing underneath of the skin.

The Live texture is ver flat and crayonish.

Not to mention the modeling in NBA Live is atrocious. The hands, arms and torsos really make the game look a lot less real than it should, even though it's probably using more polys per character than 2k6.

NBA2K6 looks incredible... maybe 2K Sports lack of showing anything new is a good sign...

Maybe they are working so hard that the next set of pictures will blow us away! ???

Yeah tha's what makes it real. It feel more organic. Dare i say, better art?

I just saw the NBA Live and 2K6 pics/vids for the first time today. NBA Live looks good, but it looks like highend CG (which may be good depending on your tastes). Whereas NBA 2K6 looks almost photorealistic. I actually had to do a double take to make sure I wasn't looking at some FMV cut-scene.

Microsoft should promote the Hell out of NBA 2K6. It really will make people's jaws drop. It will definitely help erase the "Xbox 1.5" image it got after E3 and that horrible MTV special.

forget the pics, I'm telling you, I have video's of both right here, and in motion, Live looks better. i even showed my wife both video's and she thought Live was real, whereas the 2k6 one it was obvious it isn't... of course, that may be because in 2k6 their shorts were riding way up their asses though. and having the twin coaches. :D funny stuff, that. are you guys watching a better video than me? if so, link me up, cause the one i have is not very impressive.

but i'll give you that 2k6 looks better in pics... and if you go back and read the 2k6 pic thread where they first came out, you'll see me freaking out and going gaga over it in there with the rest of us.

but when i seen the video of gameplay in 2k6, my expectations fell back down. then i seen those NBA Live videos over at IGN and couldn't believe me eyes (the floaty/skating players really hurts the overall wow factor though, but just speaking of graphics here). watch the "big, sweaty men" and the "motor off screen" videos at ign.. those are the ones that really, really impresses me!

that live video looked pretty good. but its still let down by the way the characters 'jerk' between animations. Nice fluid move - BANG - spin around smoothly - BANG - run away.

Just spoils it really.

Still might be tempted to piss away some money on this or madden just to see what they look like (NBA more likely as I liked NBA street and NBA jam)

Yes, I agree... and have said as much. But just looking at the graphics alone, you have to admitt, it is near unbelievable looking! IMO, it's the best graphics I've ever seen to date. But maybe I am swayed because I'm a sports fan, so I look at them with more expectation.

now go watch the 2k6 gameplay video, and you can't tell me it compares... it just doesn't.

Update: if you don't already have the video of 2k6 that i'm talking about, you won't be able to see it. it's not out anymore, the 2k6 people made blimblim take it down. that should tell you something right there. it had obvious glitches all over the place (shorts up players asses, ninja cheerleaders, identical twins all over the place) i know that stuff will be fixed, but until we see a gameplay video that beats the Live one (and i'm not saying that day won't come), we have to give it to Live.

nobody looks like they are exerting any effort

:lol

I was thinking the same thing. I think it's because they forgot to give the players different expressions. That would make it a ton more realistic actually. Right now they all look like robot players. heh.

:lol ya, that's from the video i was talking about... and to be frank, if anyone has seen that video of 2k6, and the Live ones, there is no way they could honestly give it to 2k6.

now, that may change real soon, but as for now, in that comparison, it's Live.

Of course it'll change. Why would 2k Sports release 2K6 to the public like that? No way they're just going to let the uniforms flow that freely off the player's models and in that same video we had the black hole cheerleader models and both teams had two of the same coach. I guarentee 2K6 coming out looking waaay better than Live upon release once they have all the graphical bugs fixed.

The cloth physics are just as bad as Live's zombie players looking at everything but the players on the court.
