Just so no else has to suffer thorough those awful video presentations, here are the winners:

GBA: The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap

DS: Mario Kart DS

PSP: Lumines

Gamecube: RE4

PS2: God of War

Xbox: Ninja Gaiden Black

Xbox 360: PGR3

PC: Civ 4

That's OK, as long as they suffer for some other reason. It's the holidays, after all.
 
so Lumines is better than GTA LCS? I seriously need to play Lumines then. I think GTA LCS is brilliant.

Civ 4 is killer so far(IMO) but i prefer BF2. Then again multiplayer based games dont tend to win GOTY.

Good, I hate sites that give GOTY to games just cause it got the highest score (IGN I'm looking at you)

You can't just compare review scores against each other and slap a GOTY award.

Resident Evil 4 could have been released in every year (2001-2005) and would probably deserve Gamecube GOTY each time.

It's really hard to come up with an action game that's better than Ninja Gaiden, but with Black, there's even more to love.

However, I think Phantom Dust, Psychonauts, and Oddworld Stranger's Wrath all add something special to the Xbox's year.

Jade Empire should get some sort of anti-achievement award.

BF2 is the first notable one to be honest. I never knew it even existed till BF2 demo came. :lol

AIAS...the game makers that choose the GOTY awards?

Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences

Although no source's opinion is better than another, I tend to trust the AIAS about 16% more than IGN or Gamespot.
 
You know what pisses me off? Ninja Gaiden BLACK, and RE4 (When they previously got their awards in previous years) both overshadowed DMC3 in some categories. DMC3 CLEARLY is the best action game of the year, you fucking tards!

And What's with their awards categories, such as my personal disgust: "The most used fword in a game" category (however it is presented, I don't give a fuck, its a stupid category).....GameSpot is a pussy when it comes to f words. Crybabies.

What if I said "what the fuck is your problem you fucking piece of shit bitch, fucking slut." are they gonna cry like a bitch?
 
I am playing the final battle of Devil May Cry 3, and I can tell you why they're overlooking it.

It's too short and the levels are too small. That makes it seem like a smaller game than those two you just named, even if it does have standard-setting gameplay.
 
Not really. 1942 started the BF style gameplay, recieved more critical acclaim and had a much larger community behind it. You might not have been around for it..but it was a pretty huge game until the patches killed it.

AIAS doesnt mean much however. I think Metroid Prime, SC and GTA dominated that year attention wise. I certainly remember more UT03 hype.

Splinter Cell won console GOTY. I won't argue that any GTA should win an award, however. That's just me.

Too short!? Hahahaha.....To me, it felt long...When I first played it, It felt long, not only that....it was because it was hard the first time. Especially the last few stages.

I think GS overlooked it because of their complaints of the game being "too hard" oh please, cry me a river.

I love the game anyway, the fights against Vergil were the best, including my favorite; the final battle. That was some crazy stuff.

Well I love Devil May Cry 3, but I was just explaining how its style might not be for everyone.

If you take cinematic/story pacing into account however, Resident Evil 4 really outdoes DMC3.

A 2004 game should not win GOTY 2005.

Ninja Gaiden is awesome, double awesome, awesometrocity, but it's still a 2004 game. A re-energized release doesn't change that.

For what 2001? I dont think so. Im pretty sure Metroid Prime won GOTY in almost every major game magazine and major game site.

I see no reason why it shouldnt be made available via text as well. 56k + lack of speakers at my uncles house mean no video for me.
 
Psychonauts is conceptually and artistically innovative, since it seems very much like the successful marriage of traditional adventure and platforming.

Gameplay-wise, there's not much new. You have boss battles, rail-sliding, double jumping, bouncing, special gadgets.

The ability to see what an object or person sees is freakin' amazing though, as is the telekinesis ability. I also like the ability to set someone on fire. The reactions to that are hilarious.
