GameStop: Did I get ripped off??

I know some of you all have had problems with GameStop selling used or opened games as new. Anyway I went and bought Radiata stories today. The game was sealed in plastic shrink wrap. Before I take it off though, I notice the game does not have a plastic sticker seal that PS2 games have on the top part of the game cases (the long plastic sticker with a shiny strip on the right side). Anyway, it stopped me from opening the game. I know GameStop rewraps some of their games. Am I being difficult, or do you think I was sold an opened game? Or, do some PS2 titals not have the plastic sticker seal?

some people who bought We Love Katamari at target reported no security tag thingy...so maybe they stopped doing it altogether? which sucks since i actually collect them to figure out how many games i bought during the year

you know it's not that I'm trying to be difficult, but when I pay for something, I expect it to be NEW, especially if it's bought as new. At Circuit City today though, I noticed quite a few games (mostly EA brand) without seals.

Folks were posting in the "did you get We <3 Katamari" thread that the game did not have the security seal. If the shrinkwrap was factory-done (i.e. not the seranwrap-style stuff GS/EB use for shrinkwrapping) then I wouldn't worry about it.

if the security tag is indeed gone, you still have two ways to figure out if it is truly a factory sealed game. 1. it needs to have that "coathanger" on the back of the box and 2. there should be a stripe/ribbon thingy that you can peel off to open the package

Also its pretty easy to spot a non factory wrapped game. Just check the top and bottom. Were the corners folded like a christmas present? If they were thats a factory job. No folding at all? One solid tight wrap? store job.

I've never bought a game anywhere with a "hanger" on the back. Nor a piece of string. I usually don't buy at gamestop, but I could not find the game anywhere else. BTW anyone know where I can pick up a guide?? ...if I decide to open the game.

Didn't it just come out? How badly scratched can it be?

I think people are trying to say that there's a good possibility that Sony may have stopped putting the security thing on games, and it's brand new. gogogo

...anyway yeah, it has folds like a christmas present, but the wrapping is kinda loose. BTW...I can't believe I'm spending a Friday night talking about this. Was gonna see Emily Rose, but is was sold out till the 2AM showing. Oh well...

The Radiata Stories I bought didn't have the security seal but it was brand new. Taken right out of the Fed Ex box and it was factory sealed. Copies of Killer7 on PS2 I saw at Fry's didn't have the security seal either and neither did my copy of We Love Katamari. It seems that the security seal has gone the way of the dodo.

What the hell? Is this still a major issue all over the place, with the "security sticker" stuff on games? Nearly every single game we get in in my store is security-stickerless these days, i thought that was standard everywhere?? Out of the 50 or so games i put away today, I think the only ones that had them were one copy of NHL 2k6 for Xbox and i think some old PS2 games. Nothing new for PS2 has had them for at least 3 months.

My madden 06 came without a top tag. Was the first time I ever saw that. This was from a TRU also, not a used game store.

Uh i work at gamestop, and i can tell you for the past 3-4 months now about 75% of the games dont come with the stickers on the top anymore.. so why are you all shitting bricks?

And I work at circuit city, same way, and its factory seals not serran wrap type shrink wrap games.

Hmmmmmmm. Ok.
Just in case you were wondering what's printed on the seals. There's the title of the game, the publisher, number of disks and a bar code plus ISBN. At least I think it's the ISBN.
