Gaming Budget 2005

The End

Member
So, the missus and I are moving at the end of the year, and we need to keep to a strict budget for the next 6 months to save up money. I've got a 1-game subscription to Gamefly, so that can take care of my for the most part. Still, there are some games out there i'm going to want to add to my collection.

I'm trying to come up with 5 total, i can hold myself to one game a month or less.

I'm thinking like this:

July: Mushihimsama (Cave, PS2)

August: ???

September: Shadow of the Collossus

October: We Love Katamari

November: DQVIII/Zelda

I'm definitely going to rent Burnout Revenge, but other than that, what am I missing?

Okami is 2006, right?

I'm probably going to squeeze Gunstar Super Heroes, Sigma Star Saga, and Soul Calibur 3 in there as well.

I'm so, so backed up with RPGs right now. I'm skipping Atelier Iris, Makai Kingdon, Fire Emblem GC, and Radiata Stories for now.

I probably should pick up DDS2 though, just because i loved the first one and i'll probably have a lower print run than the first.

I'll never know how much I'll spend on games until the end of the year itself. Next week, EB has the "Buy 3, Get 1 Free" used game deal. I went there and am going to buy Super Mario Sunshine, Viewtiful Joe, Metroid Prime, and Sonic Adventure DX. So there's $50 right there. Thats probably it for any GC purchases. For GBA, probably nothing unless I see a hell of a deal.

For the PSP front, it all depends on the reviews. It could very well be nothing or it could be Midnight Club 3 and maybe, just maybe, Coded Arms.

This week I bought F-Zero GX and Zelda 4 Pack Promotion to take advantage of a 20% off deal.

So this month will only be $100. Not too terrible.

Next month, I'll be digging around the bargain bins for good GBA and GC finds and Namco Battle Museum for PSP. So there's at least $40, probably in the end another $100 as I'll probably find a few GBA and GC goodies.

I should try to limit my budget for games down to $100 or less but ah, who cares.

Yeah, at this point i'll be lucky if i can get a PS3 near launch.

I'm sorry xbox 360, you've been voted off the island.

2-3k a month. Not that I will spend it but that is what I budgeted (games and dvds).
Well it's nice to know you set up some sort of limit. Still, I await to cackle with glee when you post the inevitable "holy crap! why the crap did I buy all this crappy crap?!" thread.

As in, $2000 to $3000 a month?
Yeah. Inheritance. You should go here and click on any given monthly haul thread. He posts as morphix over there.

I remember Morphix. Something to do with a settlement by one of his parents. Seems like such a waste of money to purchase that much "fluff", though. Not that many good releases (or time to play and enjoy them) for the kind of money being spent. To each his own.

You'd figure with $3000 a month you'd be able to buy every single game and DVD release.

Now that i think of it over the past 3 years i have spent close to 7,000 Euro....DVD and Games)

So divide that by 36 for this years approx montly budget or by 3 for this years budget..

I made you do maths!

.hacked is Morphix? The more you know.

And as he said, he puts $2000-3000 to games, but he doesn't spend that much. I couldn't possibly TRY to spend that much on games. Hell, $40 on RE4 kept me occupied for almost the entire month.

Seriously. I could see spending $200, maybe $300 monthly on new games and DVDs but after that? You'll never get around to playing and watching anything you bought.

2-3k is what I put in the budget (even with that I still make twice what I need a month not to mention my massive bank account) but sometimes I go over.

Already spent about that thanks to my two big purchases this month.

It's all good, don't loose sleep over it. Old Morphix can afford it, I am set 4 life :D
