Gauntlet: Seven Sorrows (first screenshots)

Looks pretty good. It can't just be me though, did they hire some Bioware artists? Some of that art looks VERY BG2-ish.

Looks like Killcreek to me. I don't know any reason why, but if hosting that image is an issue, lemme know.

This is in the new Game Informer and has confirmed Live play with four people during free play, and two during story mode.

Any chance of a Cube version? It'd be nicer than the PS2 one and I don't own an Xbox.
I own Gauntlet 1, 2 and Dark Legacy for the Cube (Thanks MAT1/2!) and Legends for the N64.

Seven Sorrows isn't the first game that's ostensibly a dungeon hack to mess with the traditional overhead camera angles. Can't really blame developers for doing it since it better showcase their engine and the detail they put into the visuals. As long as the camera is controllable so you can set where you like it for a given situation, it should be fine.

This screen reminds me a bit of Ico:

Well, that shot reminded me of Prince of Persia : The Sands of Time with very vertical-driven architecture and (over?)satured bloom lightning, and overall, this game shines actually quite pretty for me.

Jesus, even by GAF's usual pissing on its own wet blanket standards this is a sad sight. Let's try it one more time, with feeling:

GAUNTLET, BY JOHN ROMERO AND J.E. MOTHERFUNKING SAWYER

Life's too good.

I think Romero games deserve some lovin' now, did not he deserve it at last?

Who says some of us are actually reading the posts? I just came in here to drool over the pictures

what is needed in a gauntlet game i don't see here:

Old school feel
top down view or if with some perspective, have the camera very far with angle that hide some enemy.
swarm of enemy's

It's not going good when 80% of GAF would do better game desing than this.

Art style don't matter, 8bit version barely did have any style and legend (even if i liked it on the DC) was not an exercise in style.

Just found out about this game, f'king nice!
They're taking Gauntlet and mixing it with Baldur's Gate/Champions of Norrath and a bit of the LOTR games in there. It's also online! :O

This doesn't look like Gauntlet... where are the HORDES of enemies?

It's an early build and in the early impressions on ign, they mention that's one thing left to do. Though I prefer less monsters and a better combat engine like in the videos I've seen.

This next generation CANNOT forget about those of us who play games with our friends on the same TVs. I get together to play games with my friends at least twice a week, somethimes more. If I'm going to buy a truckload of software it better have offline co-op play.

Champions of Norrath and Return to Arms were online capable games, did it stop them from having an offline coop mode?

Damn poor Sega. They could have me buying their 3d Streets of Rage or Golden Axe, but no, they want me to give my money to Midway. Oh well. I hope the 360 has BC because I really want to play this on Live and I'm trying as hard as I can not to buy another Xbox.

It didn't stop them from being shit either. But I get your point.

I'm just afraid with all this LIVE integration, the lowly single screen multiplayers aren't left out.

Well that's in your opinion because Baldur's Gate Dark Alliance (the first one) was great and so was the Champions games, even though bugged but hey, it was the first time these kind of games were online for ps2.

I'm like you, I hope they won't take out the offline multiplayer option but I highly doubt it since if these games can go online and support that mode, there is no reason why it can't support it offline.
